Accidents while potty training

DS is 2y10m. On week 4 of potty training and he’s done fantastic!

so he was poorly this week so we had some accidents and also noticed he’s had a little drizzle/drop in his undies sometimes before the potty! But mainly when he’s told me he needs one and there’s a wait for a loo (e.g. yesterday when we were at shops. Had to walk out and down the road for a loo)

he has had 2 accidents when shy. This sounds weird but when he’s shy he is silent and won’t say so need to work on this but I just wanted to check some accidents are normal?

he is great at telling us and has even been on a weekend trip and was fully dry that trip not one accident) he’s great out and abojt too (thank you carry potty for helping haha!)

just wanted to check some are still normal? I get it’s a journey and will take time and he’s only on week 4. He’s fab in nursery too doesn’t have them but only had 1 this week but he was rundown/poorly

Kids are really good at being too busy to remember to go to the loo etc etc. Accidents will happen.Honestly, from my experience, it sounds like everything is going fine!

This sounds completely normal!! It’s great that he’s telling you when he needs to go. He’s doing really well.

The dribble before they get to the toilet is completely normal too and can go on for a while. I don’t know if it’s a boy thing? I haven’t potty trained my daughter yet but my son had that for a while after he was potty trained.

We started quite early just before DS turned 2. It probably took around a year for us to not need to take spare pants and trousers as a just Incase when out and about.

It’s crazy as we went to a different city for a whole weekend. Lots of walking not as much opportunity for toilet and he didn’t have 1 accident! Didn’t use one spare set

but when he’s quiet in social
situatoons has had them because he doesn’t want to say but he’sgetting more confident in social settings as he’s older so maybe this will tie in and pass ?

Sounds completely normal my luv x

He's doing great. Keep up the reassurance and dont fret.

Thanks all. Usual end of the day analysing myself as a mother !!!! But potty training has been such a weight on my shoulders

when he wasn’t receptive when we tried at 2y6m I felt like the biggest failure. If I heard any other kids were potty training etc his age or younger I’d just feel guilty like i was the worst mum. He was so much more open to it when we started weeks ago and was willing and happy.

waiting helped

Completely normal. And honestly, there will probably always be a little dribble. I’m 44 and sometimes I have a little dribble from time to time. 😂 My ds was probably about 3 months in before the accidents completely stopped. It’s all baby steps, but you’re moving in the right direction.
