Miracle cleaning products? Especially for mould

I’ve just moved into a new place and the bathroom has black mould bits in the grout and the bath sealant plus limescale in the toilet. Please let me know what the best cleaning products are!

White vinegar

Jamspamandham · 09/11/2024 17:15

I wouldn't bother cleaning the sealant, I'd scrape it off/out and redo it. It will probably cost the same and be less effort. White vinegar or 2 litres of cheap cola for limescale

So Do a grout spray. Got from B&Q but on amazon too.

Mould magic gel. Squeeze on, leave on overnight. Brilliant stuff!

mathanxiety · 09/11/2024 17:40

Bleach for the caulk mould. Dunk strips of oltld towel or an old white T shirt in bleach and spread over the black mould in the bath tub. Leave overnight and see if there's any improvement. Use rubber gloves. If no big improvement or if it returns, consider re-caulking.

Use bleach gel with an old toothbrush to scrub it off the grouting. Use rubber gloves.

For the loo, if the stains are under the water line, try a few cans of diet coke. Pour in, let sit an hour or so, scrub with a loo brush, flush.

If the stains are all over the bowl, scoop out the water, spray the entire inside of the bowl with oven cleaner, spread cling film over the rim covering the entire bowl, let sit for a few hours, and then clean with a sponge or cloth. Use rubber gloves.

Came to say the same about the HG spray.

Dettol mould and mildew remover spray. Spray and leave for a few hours

WingSlutz · 09/11/2024 19:26

Agree with PP, just scrape out the old sealant and redo. Cillit Bang is the best for limescale in my experience. Dettol Mould & Mildew remover for the mould. Harpic 10x for the limescale in the loo.

Same here

HG mould spray. Absolutely amazing. Wouldn’t use anything else. I sprayed some on a patch of mould by my window the other day, then looked the day after when I remembered and the mould had all vanished

I love this product so much. White vinegar is great for so many things but kilrock is what I use for limescale now, lifechanging

Kilrock | It's the one that works!

HG is the boss. But dont get it on any fabrics or they are toast.

SirChenjins · 09/11/2024 22:57

HG mould remover spray (not the mousse) - that stuff is miraculous. It removes mould and just about everything else you need removed, including discoloured white loo seats as I discovered recently.

BrieHugger · 09/11/2024 23:02

Another vote for HG mould spray. It’s miracle stuff especially on grubby grout and mildewy sealant.

BrieHugger · 09/11/2024 23:04

It’s also good on stains on white clothing like school shirts. Bleach sometimes turns things pink, HG doesn’t.

HundredMilesAnHour · 09/11/2024 23:19

The best limescale remover is Bower Collective. It's amazing! Even my cleaner has been amazed by how good it is.

Comedycook · 09/11/2024 23:21

I bought a bottle of astonish mould and mildew remover and did my bathroom grout with it this week. Worked pretty well

Theak · 10/11/2024 08:59

Well that is fairly conclusive! HG mould spray has been ordered. Thank you all.

As above make sure room is well ventilated very strong smell.

LynetteScavo · 10/11/2024 09:38

The HG mould spray didn't work for me (was recommended in MN) the only think that worked was white vinegar (I didn't believe it would before I tried it) and then bleach. One at time, if you mix them they cause some sort of lethal gas, apparently.
