What are your weather predictions for the winter? Any cold snap?

Does anyone here have any predictions for the weather this winter? Do you think will we get a cold snap this year? Like in winter of 2010 or the beast from the East. I don't know if I should prepare for a cold snap or not.

I don't drive a car but preparing for me would be good leather shoes that will provide a grip. Maybe even getting a walking pole or stick. Having long life milk in the house for tea and coffee.

Nah, it'll just be the usual cool, damp and grey. Might get the odd cold week in January or February when the media go mad and declare it's the next ice age descending 🙄 I've had cold weather prep in my car for years and never had to use it yet.

Apparently La Niña means that it’ll be colder/wetter than usual this winter in the UK. I always think snow seems like a localised phenomenon so that’ll probably be the usual lottery.

There used to be a trend where hot summers made colder winters more likely and mild summers made mild winters more likely thereby averaging out the annual temperatures.

However in the last ten years this trend doesn't seem to apply anymore. With warming global temperatures the UK is simply getting more rainfall throughout the year and mild temperatures (as if it it didn't rain enough beforehand!!).

Anyway all that would change if the Gulf Stream gets interrupted and then we would have Canadian style cold winters on a par with Halifax NS.
