Motivation for getting back into resistance / strength training anyone? 40-something mum

I got really into resistance training in my 30's but then had DC and everything went to pot. I'm now mid 40's and DC at school so ready to start all over again from the start.

I have been running 5k but haven't started up any other training so I'm at a low starting point. I know the value of strength training at my age as a woman.

I've got some basic exercises I can start at home which I used a decade ago, but I'd also like to watch some decent YouTube videos or Instagram reels for inspiration - specifically middle aged women / mums getting back into their fitness / perimenopausal women. Everytime I search I just get 20-something men telling me what I should be doing and I'm not keen - they don't motivate me!

Any mums out there successfully got back into resistance / strength training in middle age after babies and what / who inspired you please? All tips to get me started welcome!

Fifty Fitness Journey is literally amazing. She's my hero 😂 I am 44 and aspire to her. Just getting back into it myself. I did six months with a PT last year and it changed my life.

Not quite what you're looking for but I do recommend the Hit play not pause podcast to listen to while you run and work out - it's very much aimed at active women in their 40s and beyond, and there's loads of suggestions and inspiration there (I loved the one with the two women who somewhat randomly started parkour in their 40s/50s and got hooked). The presenter, Selene Yeager, co-wrote Roar with Dr Stacey Sims and is very enthusiastic about the benefits of lifting heavy, and the show newsletter includes an exercise of the week.

I also like Hailey Happens which Dr Sims recommends - I am on a paid programme now, Power Happens Express, but she has quite a lot of free content too including programmes aimed at getting people into lifting for the first time. I think she has an insta reel as well.

I’m a gym goer and see a PT once a week for variety and accountability. My sister does Caroline Girvan at home. I’ve done them when I stay at hers and her routines are great… iron series I think. I only do strength training and the results are incredible x
