Says on the packet to defrost in fridge for 8 hours, but I need them in about 3 hours! They are jumbo king prawns, already cooked. Thank you!

Cold water, changed several times.

Sprig1 · 08/11/2024 15:56

As above, in a bowl of cold water. Change water once it starts to warm up.

Oh I eat these most weeks. Put them in a bowl. Fill the bowl with hot water from the tap - so not boiling - and voila! May have to change the water once.

I usually just run them under the cold tap in a colander.

Auto defrost on your microwave, did 4 big bags the day before yesterday.

BoobyDazzler · 08/11/2024 15:58

I put them in a the opened bag in a jug in the sink and trickle the cold tap over them, letting the water run over the top. Takes about 5 minutes to thaw

LovelyDaaling · 08/11/2024 15:59

I defrost mine in the microwave, then eat them right away. No time for nasty bugs to breed. Never had a problem

Definitely as others said immerse in a bowl of cold water, you can add a little salt, change it if it ices over.

I used to work for Lyons seafoods back in the day and it was the advice given to me by their Home Economist.

MinnieCauldwell · 08/11/2024 16:02

Put on a metal tray, fu6rn them every ten minutes, will defrost in an hour. Rinsing them could effect the flavour.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 08/11/2024 16:02

Cold water - as described by pp.

I don't recommend using your microwave as you are likely to get some part warmed and some still frozen.

mindutopia · 08/11/2024 16:18

I’d probably just leave them out at room temp. In our house, they would be defrosted in 3 hours.

Thank you so much everyone! Have a fab weekend all xxx
