Travelling by bus

Just wondering if anyone has any tips for a long journey by coach. I want to make it as comfortable as possible. One journey is during the day and the other by night.

i can’t carry too much stuff but now dreading it 😂

travelling from Glasgow to London with megabus. It was a third of the price of the train. Can’t be that bad.

When I finished uni I vowed never to travel by bus or sit in cheap theatre seats but cost of living and my budget has pit price to that!

Any tips?! ❤️❤️

Crossword app on your phone!

I can lose myself for hours with them 😁

Noise cancelling headphones, a good game on your phone (I love Wordscapes), portable battery pack and a comfy neck pillow! From a seasoned bus traveller :)

Headphones to listen to audio book/podcasts, Ear plugs, travel pillow if you have one, I find coaches are often cold if by the window so layers, food!

I've done trip a few times :)

A neck pillow is incredible if you have one/can bring one.

Make sure you have a device with stuff downloaded as service on the road isn't great (there's wifi but it's not reliable) - also bring a power-bank.

I find the coaches a bit unpredictable in terms of what they'll be like. Sometimes the overnight ones are dead and you can sleep, sometimes it's basically a party bus (especially on weekends). Try not to pack too much into your day after the overnight!

Bring lots of snacks and water.

Go to the toilet before you leave, the one on the bus is not that great.

Thanks for reminder about toilet, I’ll limit fluids before the journey. Great tips thank you

I quite like long bus journeys. I suppose my best tip is get to the bus station early so that when the actual queuing starts you can be near the front and get your choice of seat. Although you can book your seat nowadays but in my experience people still just sit anywhere.
Take a couple of books and a neck pillow and - top tip - a damp flannel- nothing like a cooling face wipe when you're feeling tired, and great for de-stickyfying your hands and face after eating and drinking. Flask of tea, not too full so that you can pour it while moving.
It'll go quicker than you think @Debtfreeme

Book your seat and don't be afraid to kick someone out of it if they take it. Right at the front of at the back is my preference. If you can afford it, book the one next to you too so you've room to curl up and sleep. There's not a lot of room.

Thanks so much guys. I’ll let you know how it goes ❤️
