Vinted - is this grounds for a refund?

I bought a NEXT blouse from Vinted which cost just under £7 incl postage. It has arrived today and the sizing is wayyyy off. The listing and photo shows a size 20 but now I have the blouse it’s very clearly no bigger than a size 14.

I’ve personally found that NEXT’s sizing can be variable, even when I was slim, but this is ridiculous. There was no mention of it being ‘more like size X’ which I have seen on other listings, so I assume the seller knew and doesn’t care plus it must be a factory second (mislabelled at source).

Do you think this is grounds to ask for a refund or just swallow the loss? I’m more annoyed at being misled than losing the money. Seller only has 18 reviews so far but surely needs to understand that you need to be honest.

I think if it was marketed as the size on the label, no you can't ask for a refund.
I mean, it can be refunded but you will need to pay for postage.

You can ask sellers for measurements before committing to a purchase.

If the size on the label matches the listing then the seller has done nothing wrong and you don’t have grounds for a refund. I always ask sellers for measurements for this reason, shop sizing varies so much these days.

I have chalked similar occurrences to bad luck. It does suck though.

Yeah as others have said if the label says the size it’s been sold as I don’t think you’ve got grounds for a refund. Sellers aren’t under any obligation to say ‘fits more like xyz’ and all brands sizes can differ massively.

You can ask but you’d be liable for covering return postage so probably not worth it, I’d just relist and try to sell on.

From experience, if you list 'fits more like size xx' or even 'fits large', buyers who simply changed their mind are way more likely to raise a complaint, as those statements can't be objectively verified. If it's label size, it's label size.

Thanks all, I’ll just chalk it but to experience and keep it until I get back to my goal weight. This is the first time I’ve bought clothing where the sizing is way off.

I have just had the same thing happen to me with ordering some trousers for my son. Labelled as 9-10 but when they came they are absolutely tiny. I think the seller may have shrunk them in a wash at some point. But the label says 9-10 and I should have asked for measurements, so I do not think I could ask for a refund as annoying as it is.

NukaCola · 08/11/2024 09:47

What does the label say? This is the issue with shopping online, whatever the store. I am a size 14, I have items in my wardrobe all bought in the last couple o years from Zara in a small, medium, large and extra large, and they all fit me.

Overthebow · 08/11/2024 09:48

I don’t like it when the seller says ‘fits more like’ as that’s very subjective.
