I do not want old lady back (as in body part)

Age 46, size 8, exercise regularly, weights, spin, running. Just looked through a lot of photos from a recent event and it’s definitely “coming on”. Like a rounding of it, very subtle but I see it. My DGM, DM and MIL have / had it and I always remember my GDM and DM talk about celebrities and their surgeries and say that their back gives their age anyway. So, panic breaths here…

I do not want the old back - how to stop it? Is it posture awareness. Can’t be tech causing it as previous generations didn’t have it. Anyone else is feeling like this?

Yoga, Pilates etc. My posture at 60 has never been better. Plus all the other stuff you are already doing to maintain healthy bones.

Surely you just need to do back strengthening exercises but I'm no expert

It's kyphosis and posture management is the best way to prevent it. I worry about all the women who have the S curve - hunched shoulders and pelvis pushed forwards. Their backs are going to cause them all manner of bother as the years progress.

You should think about getting a bone density scan. The classic old lady "dowager's hump" is usually a sign of osteoporosis. If that runs in your family, you might want to take preventative measures to protect your bone density.
