How do things "work" if you date a much shorter man?

Forgive my ridiculous question, but I've been having some flirty banter with a very short man. I didn't mean for it to happen, but we seem to be on the verge of becoming "something". I didn't think I found him attractive at all, but as I've got to know him better, I do.

He really is very short though and I'm quite tall, there's about 4/5 inches between us!

So to the ridiculous question. How does that work physically? Things from a head on a chest, an arm round a shoulder, to sex, everything's in the wrong place 🤣 Or does it all work out naturally if things are right between you? .

It might slip in the wrong hole, that'd be my worry!

If its the wrong hole it would be a very tight fit!!!

CookieMonster28 · 07/11/2024 15:41

I don't think it matters physically...Ive dated short men, not shorter than me...he probably won't be able to put his arm around your shoulder but apart from that! We're all the same height when laying down don't they say!

Odearr · 07/11/2024 15:43

I think it will work out fine but depends a lot on your own body image etc I couldn't date a shorter man because it would make me feel like a great big giant all the time

Overtheatlantic · 07/11/2024 15:44

Disgusting question

ThisCosyPoster · 07/11/2024 15:53

I'm nearly 6 ft. Husband is 5ft 9. It's fine when we are lying down but the head on chest thing is awkward. Holding hands is awkward and still after 20 years, I notice the height difference all the time. If I ever become single I'm finding someone same height or taller. Be sure you find him physically attractive and that your mind isn't tricking you because you get on well.

Disgusting question

Are you new to the internet?

U13579 · 07/11/2024 16:04

I mean surely sex works in the same way as it does if the woman is the shorter one?

Ladyritacircumference · 07/11/2024 16:06

Everyone is the same height when laid down…

Ey? You need to get your hole placements checked out by a doctor.

blackpooolrock · 07/11/2024 16:16

your all the same height lying down.

orangegato · 07/11/2024 16:23

I’m 5ft so it’d be creepy as hell to date someone shorter than me.

I don’t know. Something about me just can’t compute tiny men and tall women. My brain won’t go there. See Sophie Dahl and Jamie Cullum.

BobbyBiscuits · 07/11/2024 16:24

If you're lying down or climbing on him it doesn't matter. Unless you want to try and do it standing up. In which case just bend you knees. 🤣

SensibleSigma · 07/11/2024 16:26

It feels a bit maternal when you hug someone smaller than you. I get Hagrid and Madame Maxime vibes.

I’m about to celebrate my 20 something wedding anniversary with my husband who is 5.5 I’m 5.8. We have 2 children!

He wasn’t my usual choice! My previous partners all been around 6.2! But sometimes you can’t help who you fall for!

I understand people have preferences but I think "creepy as hell" is a bit offensive actually, short men aren't children!

BaronessBomburst · 07/11/2024 16:29

Let's face it, some positions are just not going to work.

There was the same height difference between my late DH and me. Married 27 yrs.

The only accommodation made was that if I wanted to lie in the crook of his arm for a cuddle, I'd scoot down a wee bit.

GroovyChick87 · 07/11/2024 16:35

In bed it doesn't matter. I once dated a short man, 5'4 and in heels I towered over him. It was something I wasn't used to as I'm around 5'2.I can't explain why but I didn't really like it.

AncientBallerina · 07/11/2024 16:36

You say you’re quite tall though so is that you’re almost 6 ft and he’s 5’8’’
or are you 5’8’’ and he’s 5’4’’. Because for the former he’s on the shorter side whereas the latter he really is short and so he generally might have more issues around that. In bed I don’t think it makes much difference. Walking around it’s a bit awkward holding hands etc, arm around shoulders etc. I don’t really mind though because I don’t like men towering over me.
Obviously the main thing is - is he one of the good guys? Will he be there for you in a relationship if you need him. Only one way to find out!

Imnotanumber · 07/11/2024 16:36

How do lesbians manage it? There's going to be a taller woman in every couple

LittleGuinea · 07/11/2024 16:41

I am tall and have been with several men shorter than me. It doesn't make much difference provided your torsos are a similar size or he has a longer torso. If your torso is longer than his it does make a difference in bed and isn't so great. And generally, some positions you do need to bend your knees a bit for it to work!
