Especially if you're in Reception/EYFS.... how do you cope?! The nausea is killing me. I'm not actually sick and it's been absolutely constant for the last two weeks so I feel like I need to try and push through. They are not an easy bunch and I feel like I've finally got them settled. A week with supply would set me back a term.

We take the children to lunch and supervise for the first 10/15 minutes and it's gruesome. I'm really struggling with the smells and the terrible table manners.

We all eat together in the staffroom which is another zone of horror. I think everyone pretty much suspects but at the minute aren't saying anything but I'm a bit older and worried and wanted to keep it private for the time being.

It's so hard isn't it! I'm in Year 6 and we have a different set of smells which have been challenging to say the least.
My advice would be to just tell one trusted person. Sipping ginger tea helped me a lot. Also prioritise yourself always.

How far are you? It should get easier once you're through the first trimester.

My TA knows and the other Reception teacher too. Freezing cold Sprite hidden in my water bottle is helping, god help my teeth.

I'm 9 weeks so I'm hoping it peaks and settles.

I'm 12 weeks now and feeling a little better. With my first pregnancy it was definitely easier once the nausea died down.

Oh it's hard when you're trying to keep it quiet. I found a biscuit first thing eased the nausea. And I kept haribos and mints in my pocket to take the edge off. Drink as much water as you can and try peppermint or ginger tea.
Definitely eased after 12 weeks or so. You can always say you have caught one of these strange bugs going around. No one will bat an eyelid at school!

I had a stash of digestives I'd sometimes eat. I was secondary and had a parent complaint about the eating. When I said I was pregnant the parent soon stopped complaining!

If you haven't already, please tell your HT. It makes you and them more protected.

I remember this so well. I was Yr 6 when pregnant but the dinner hall smell was enough just walking past. Also working in Yr R this year so know how hard it is! For nausea the best thing I could do was eat a cracker every now and again. Also raw carrots. Keeping blood sugar stable helped with energy levels too. Ginger was not for me so try things but only stick with what makes you feel good. If lunch hall is terrible consider telling your Head and ask to be excused from this duty until you are over this stage of pregnancy. I know it not ideal so early on but sometimes we have to do these things to look after ourselves at this early stage. The Head will keep it to themselves if asked to. My morning sickness always subsided around 16 weeks so not necessarily just the first trimester. Good luck with your pregnancy xx

My class were a bit older but I constantly ate Rich Teas. Nibbled on one non-stop. Lunch was cream crackers with butter and jam. Or maybe Brie.
The children didn't comment on the biscuits
