Anyone struggle to get their teen to eat fruit/veg?

Dd (15) is in year 11 & taking gcses this year. She has to be in school for revision at 8am. Therefore she's not really hungry before she leaves at 7.40am but might quickly have a piece of toast. They also serve toast at revision. She'll have nothing until lunch then a slice of pizza. I used to make her a packed lunch which included fruit but she'd rather buy something at school as all her friends do & she doesn't want to wait on her own & doesn't want to queue with them for no reason! There arent really any healthy, quick options at schopl. When she gets home I can usually get her to eat a piece of fruit with a couple of biscuits. Then dinner which I try to make sure is balanced so she might get 1-2 portions of veg. I try to get her to eat fruit after but she says she's not hungry. So at most she's getting 2-3 portions of fruit/veg a day. I don't think there's much else I can do but should I be worried?

I think veg is more important, and this is a very important school year and it sounds as if she's very busy. Not a hill I'd be dying on.

Yes I agree about veg which is why I try to get as much in her as possible! When you say not a hill you'd die on, do you mean it's not a battle you'd pick? Sorry just clarifying if my understanding of that phrase is correct 😊

Does she like smoothies? Any chance she'd want a glass in the mornings? Bonus points if you make from scratch and use Greek yog for the protein!

Or, sounds stupid, but any fruits she'd like more than others? I'm not so much a 'fruit' person but I'll happily snack on berries or a tangerine if nothing else!

My kids are the same though a bit younger. I get them to take a multivitamin gummy every day. Not ideal, but better than nothing in my eyes.

Smoothies are a good idea. You can make them fruit based so they taste good and hide spinach and flaxseeds for example in them.

My teen is incredibly fussy but likes them with a bit of frozen fruit ( blueberries), fresh strawberries, banana and chuck in spinach, flaxseeds. It's not a daily thing though.

Sounds like you're doing ok. It isn't easy to force it.

Also second a multivitamin gummy.
