Anyone had to sue their neighbours?

My neighbour caused damage to my home and I am having to sue them to recoup the costs.
I really would rather avoid the stress of it all but I can’t afford to write off several thousand pounds.
Win or lose I will still have to live next door to them. Detached properties but still very close.
Moving is not an option for many reasons.
Has anyone been through this and how did it go?

Can your insurance company not deal with theirs?

Can your insurance company not deal with theirs?

Insurance have done their part and paid for a lot of the damage but even after this I am still significantly out of pocket so the only way to reclaim this is from my neighbour directly.
My insurer does not claim against neighbours who have caused damage anymore after a change of company policy supposedly so as not to escalate tensions to their customers detriment from troublesome neighbours.
I wish they had sued my neighbour but appreciate this is not possible so it is up to me to make a claim.
This thread was really asking for personal experiences rather than anything else.
I am anticipating the present simmering hostility from my neighbour may well take a turn for the worse but unfortunately I have to do this.

Do you have legal expense insurance on your house or car insurance that might cover it? These cases can go on for years and be very expensive.

It will be via small claims court as under £10k so not an expensive or prolonged process
