How long does it take you to write a job application and covering letter?

Assuming your CV just needs a bit of alteration. Is 2 days and opting out of all housework and looking after the kids taking the piss?

In my industry they don't take CVs and you have to fill in the application form.

I'd guess it takes me about a day?

Longer if I haven't done it in years and need to seriously update

It would take me about a week, doing a bit each day - probably between 5 and 10 hours.

That's the thing. Is he? I don't know.

I would usually take a couple of evenings for a full application form which is laborious but uploading a cv isn’t really a thing in my industry. Minor alterations to a cv would be a couple of hours at most.

Spagettifunctional · 02/11/2024 22:18

I think it would take me that long but doing a few jobs and minding kids in between (and did) when I changed after 20 years.
your do needs to take over the household jobs now for a few days to make up for this to be honest. Very unfair.

My civil service application took an entire weekend of concerted effort. I put all chores aside to get it done. My brain was fried when I’d finished.
It was worth it. I got the role I was after.

Hard to say. I find writing / editing very easy and whip through written tasks - at work I often get asked to proof read other colleagues' writing. But a lot of people don't and it takes them a lot longer. My DH doesn't find it that easy and I have often re-worded joint emails from both of us.

But I assume there is more to this and you feel he is using it as an excuse to opt out of domestic duties?

That's the thing. Is he? I don't know.

A one off because he is trying to nail a job? He is not taking the piss.

Regular shirking of responsibilities? Piss take.

Only you know OP
