What's good on Netflix at the moment?

I need something new, preferably a series or documentary rather than a film.
An easy watch as I have no brain power at this time.

It's not really high level, just enjoyable.

There is an assumption that you vaguely know how an embassy works and the civil service but it's not especially representative and I think you could understand the gist from the programme without a background in it.

And there are some extra layers underneath; references to Trump and Biden but not overt, the odd bit about Afghanistan, but none of them are in any way central to your enjoyment of what is ultimately a fantasy of what that bit of politics looks like.

Thank you SO much for taking the time to answer me. I really appreciate that. Gonna stick it on now x

I second the Good Place and Psych if you have not already watched them. Also, the Santa Clarita Diet - gory but funny, Loudermilk is also an easy watch.

Chailattelover · 02/11/2024 20:35

Nobody wants this! No brain cells required 😜

I've got hooked on The Resident. It's a typical American hospital drama but a good one.

Same. Currently working my way through it. Really enjoying it.

SatansBobbleheadedDashboardOrnament · 02/11/2024 20:44

I'll tell you what's not good, if you decide to go down the film route - Sting and Don't Move. Don't do it!
Women of the Hour is decent though.

Monsters is great, or if you fancy an older series, Maid and Inventing Anna are both worth a watch.

I can't get over how much smiling, head tilting, and running one doctor can do.

Sweet Bobby

I’m really enjoying Come Home.

Set in Northern Ireland. It’s about a man who’s left totally confused and lost after his wife leaves him and their three kids with no reason, no explanation. She moves a couple of miles away and just will not say what’s led her to leaving.

Was motherland any good?

Yes! I’m so jealous you get to watch it for the first time now lol!

mumda · 02/11/2024 20:48

Victoria.

Don't know anything about her or that period of history really. Not into costume drama but has enjoyed The Crown very much, perhaps because I was aware of some more of that.

Nobody Wants This.

I read your comment and thought ' poor op she's only asking' then realised it was a series 🤦🏽‍♀️

Gangs of London

Season 1 of Gangs of London is one of the best things I've watched in a while. I wouldn't say it's an easy watch, though. It's extremely violent and pretty heavy going in parts.

NippyCrab · 02/11/2024 21:18

I watched Martha today and been watching When Missing Turns to Murder, there's 2 seasons. Lincoln Lawyer 3 seasons.

Glad I’m not the only one who’s loving Bump! So well acted and relatable.

NippyCrab · 02/11/2024 21:20

Oh My abuser my wife, The Inheritance, Sweet Bobby.

JuliaLivilla · 02/11/2024 21:20

I haven't had Netflix for a while, and wanted to wait until there are several things I want to watch before resubscribing, but do like Michael Connelly/Lincoln Lawyer books. I just looked it up on IMDb and gather that the Harry Bosch character doesn't make an appearance, even though in 'The Brass Verdict' Haller realises they are brothers. Have they renamed the character and removed the family bonds? Or just wiped him out of existence as I presume at the moment, Bosch belongs to Prime.

I didn't like it, couldn't warm to the main character

That’s why I’ve not yet watched it actually. In the trailer she looks a bit chaotic and brittle and as though her coat needs dry cleaning. and I wasn’t sure if I’d warm to her. But on the strength of the endorsements here I’m going to give it a go!
