Could it be something like you’re too hot so your heart rate rises which garmin sees as stress ? I love being cosy, but have to remove a blanket before sleeping. Alternatively are you having stressful dreams ? You could look to see if it matches up with REM sleep .

My stress is always orange, I think it's probably because I have a higher than should be BMI so it's probably body stress rather than emotional stress

However, I had to make a team MS Planner board, and my Garmin told me I was so relaxed I was asleep whilst I was doing it - so perhaps that's the solution.

Can you post a pic of the sleep schedule dh has sleep apnea and this was very evident when he borrowed my garmin. A change of diet and oxygen therapy has made a massive difference

Billybagpuss · 02/11/2024 08:33

Also how does it differ between alcohol and non alcohol days (sorry if that’s being presumptive but it makes a huge difference to mine)

Thanks for the replies

I did wonder if it was sleep apnea. I'm very overweight BMI 31 ish

I think it's physical stress

I don't think I'd had alcohol that day. Had one beer Wednesday for husbands birthday

Avoid caffeine after 11am

Take amitriptuline for back pain

Could it be the back pain - which often worsens at night - causing the stress results?

helpmyback · 02/11/2024 10:04

I'm due to have some acupuncture for my back to see if that helps it will be interesting

Would it be worth going to the GP

Those awake spikes where you don’t actively wake up but pulls you out of sleep might be the cause. This is what dh was having. He’s been doing Zoe diet and cut his drinking right back but I think it’s the oxygen therapy that has really helped. It’s not very easy to come by but if you’re near sw/midlands area pm me and I’ll send you the link

Billybagpuss · 02/11/2024 12:15

Might be worth gp too

I don't seem to have terribly restful sleep either!

There is definitely a link to alcohol consumption, but I've never worked out anything else that is definitely and predictably a factor (in either direction).

It's measuring body stress, isn't it, not stressy thoughts. I was wondering if relaxation techniques and meditation might help.

And perhaps tracking semi-vigorous things (like gardening, or dancing) as cardio, as it won't autotrack them (like it does walks). This won't give any answers for your overnight readings, but might alter your daytime baselines (as it doesn't rate stress during activities).
