Whole day off with my husband - having our baby next week. What should we do?

I’ve woken up with more energy than usual after a fairly decent night sleep. We can’t stay around home today as we have decorators finishing off and there’s lots of dust and mess.
Want to do something nice - what would you suggest? 😀 I thought about going on a walk but then again we will be easily able to do that with baby, would like to do something that will be more difficult for a while with a baby in tow

Theatre? Live music of some kind? Go out for a leisurely lunch?

Heybearu · 01/11/2024 08:34

Spa day with lunch 😊 or Xmas shopping day with lunch.

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 01/11/2024 08:35

Get up.
pick up your handbag.
walk out of the house.

hold that thought - you won’t do it that quickly for a while 😊

have a lovely night.

She's having a baby next week.
Personally I was a whale at this point and sex was in no way sexy.

I'd say go to the cinema and go for a nice meal.

Overthebow · 01/11/2024 08:38

Lovely relaxed meal

NorthantsNewbie · 01/11/2024 08:39

YY to cinema and meal.

I’d also try and squeeze in a hair cut - no reason why you can’t do this and leave the baby with DH, but I really didn’t feel up to it emotionally for a lot longer than I was expecting.

AppleKatie · 01/11/2024 08:39

DH and I had this the day before my C-section with my first, nobody else knew the date (or that I was having a C-section) so it was a special secret day. We went out to lunch, to a couple of favourite places in our local area, then to the cinema and then out to dinner! Pure decadence and pleasing ourselves. We still talk about it fondly 10+ years later 😂

AgainandagainandagainSS · 01/11/2024 08:39

Walk - boring! You’re not 70 hahahaha
Agree with PP. Nice meal out, theatre/cinema/museum/ whatever you both enjoy.

Jollyjoy · 01/11/2024 08:40

Yes defo a nice meal and a fun activity like cinema or an escape room. But you can’t appreciate it in reverse, if you see what I mean, just do something that you enjoy and if a walk is it, just do it!

Sexy times doesn't have to mean sexual intercourse. Just intimate time together. Something you will be short on for sure.

Feelhelpless93673 · 01/11/2024 08:41

Something practical- shopping for a few Xmas presents to get ahead, buying Christmas pjs for the baby 🙈🤣, making sure everything is ready and set up to make life easier. Even a quick trip to M&S for some nice ready meals for the freezer?
And something fun- a nice lunch out, maybe not the cinema if you’re at the point that sitting for hours is painful.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 01/11/2024 08:41

Cinema and meal out.

No but it does mean something sexy, and I was certainly not sexy whenever I was 39+ weeks pregnant. We are all different though!

Sounds like a good time for a massage where your partner helps you to feel positive about your pregnant body.

Another vote for a leisurely lunch and cinema. For me going to the cinema as a couple was a luxury we couldn't afford after kids - if you have to factor in the cost of a babysitter.

Whoowhoo · 01/11/2024 09:17

Spa day, maybe massage, nice lunch and a long nap.

Namechange5555555555 · 01/11/2024 09:20

Shopping, lunch out, cinema, dinner out, bath, good film

Redcrayons · 01/11/2024 09:22

Another one for the cinema and lunch or dinner somewhere super nice that don’t allow kids.

FrenchandSaunders · 01/11/2024 11:13

That new Cillian Murphy film looks good.

Shiningout · 01/11/2024 11:40

I'd go out in the morning then have a nice lunch then come home and slob and sleep and eat in peace have a long bath etc all the things that I struggled with once the baby arrived
