Probably a stupid question. But does the copper coil have any impact on perimenopause/menopause?

In what way, impact?

If you have a Mirena instead then you can just take oestrogen for HRT as the mirena supplies enough progesterone.

No, but it’ll likely make your becoming heavier periods even worse.

Well - I don't know whether my periods will behave the same way as though I didn't have the coil. Will they become erratic and stop or will the copper coil somehow affect them? Will it have any impact on other symptoms? Basically, I have no idea whether I will experience peri/menopause in the same was as if I didn't have it in (I'm 46).

It has not got hormones in it, so no it won't affect your menopause as that is hormone production changing.
It may physically affect your periods, in that they can become heavier but that usually starts when it's inserted.
Yes, your periods should follow the same pattern as a lady without any artificial hormones: become irregular and stop over a stretch of time (potentially years).

Thank you. I've had it for 6 years now so over the initial settling in period. It was inserted when I had a young baby and I wasn't thinking clearly enough to ask these sorts of questions!

I've had copper coils and they have made no difference to periods menopause etc. I realise this is not the case for everyone
