November health challenge

livingonhomemadesoup · 31/10/2024 23:03

Thinking about setting myself monthly health challenges , giving up alcohol/sugar etc for a month or something exercise based with the view that a month is quite achievable and would hopefully lead to a healthier life!

Thinking of starting tomorrow with no bread for November.

Any other suggestions or anyone in with me??

@TwoNinetyNine I know, but I was trying to motivate myself with the 1st of the month!

I was thinking 100 squats a day in November. I can't remember which charity were promoting this as a challenge, might gave been cancer research

So many little changes are both possible and important!

Encouragement for your sugar goal:

You could also look at hitting your fruit goal (not all sugar is bad!) https://www.bhf.org.uk/informationsupport/support/healthy-living/healthy-eating/healthy-eating-toolkit/food-portions/fruit or be more mindful of snack portions https://www.bhf.org.uk/informationsupport/heart-matters-magazine/nutrition/weight/what-does-100-calories-look-like

Or my favourite small change behaviour is around osteoporosis risk reduction
https://theros.org.uk/information-and-support/bone-health/exercise-for-bones/ If you prefer to skim then scroll to the sections titled 'Examples of low, moderate and high-impact exercises and activities' and 'How much and how often should I do impact exercise?'.

Other great things to do are hydrate well, get 7-8 hours sleep a night and get 20-30 mins of fresh air and daylight a day.

Personally, my aim is to continue to reduce my UPFs because I find that helps massively reduce my snacking. I'm actually in my healthy weight range now. Good luck @livingonhomemadesoup

How to cut back on sugar without noticing

Too much sugar can lead to weight gain and damaging effects on our health. Here are 6 small changes that you'll hardly notice, which can help you cut down on the sweet stuff.

Oh and remember one or two small changes are more achievable than huge overhauls. I only put multiple suggestions for choice and inspiration 😀

Have a walk everyday. Don't scroll before bed for a better sleep.
