Can people in the public eye get away with less now?

Very random thought occurred to me earlier whilst listening to Nick Ferrari on LBC.

I like listening to him and find him almost comforting on my commute Blush completely innocently, with no bad intent. I am 27.

A thought occurred to me that if he fancied someone like me and the woman in question was interested, he'd have to think twice wouldn't he? This is not a conversation about his character (I don't even know if he's married). I am just using him as an example of an older man in the public domain with a lot of media interest

I say this bedside I get the feeling the media would go nuts and treat it as if it was almost inappropriate and exploitive

But, I get the feeling it would've been easier to keep hush hush and private in the 90s/earlier 00s and before?

I was a baby/toddler in the year 2000 so obviously have no memory of such times. But I can the feeling having money and a reasonable background earned you a degree of anonymity

Just to clarify, my dearest mum definitely thinks those were different times and seems to agree with my take on things

It's all speculation in my part but she obviously lived through it all

My view is it wouldn't be seen that way - I think someone like that would surely be dragged through the mud about it due to how young the woman is?

Back in the day ministers used to resign if they were caught having affairs. Now we make them Prime Minister.

I think it depends on the person and the circumstances of the relationship. Nick Ferrari’s a radio host and not a politician and providing he didn’t meet you at work and you were much junior, people might raise eyebrows but that’s it I think.

Nick Ferrari seems a lot more chilled out and kindly these days, probably counting down to retirement. I remember the days when he was not like that!

@BrandNewKey my friend's dad met him on holiday a few years ago in Cuba - Said he was alone and very happy to chat to him! But jokingly told him no pictures Grin
