Turned down for mobile sim only contract when i have broadband with them already

I live in a bit of a rubbish area for mobile reception, I have tried so many networks over the last year or so, From 02, to voda, to virgin etc

On all the networks i have tried I can only use my phone at home using my wifi because the reception is so bad, As soon as I leave my flat and go anywhere I have no reception, can't use apps or load webpages and if anyone calls me It goes dead after a minute and I have to keep calling people back.

Tried EE pay as you go and I now have full reception everywhere! I can use my phone again and everything works!. I was so happy that I signed up for EE broadband as my broadband contract was up.

Then people kept asking me why I never answered my phone anymore when they called, After spending ages trying to figure it all out it turns out if you are on EE pay as you go you can't use the call waiting feature.. so basically if i am on the phone with someone, If i get a call from someone else i have no clue someone has called me, No notification saying missed call etc.

Called EE and was told you only get call waiting if you are pay monthly, So I spent ages on the phone with him upgrading to pay monthly for my mobile and right at the end he said I failed the credit check but he couldn't give me a reason why.

I don't understand why I was accepted for boradband but not a £15 per month phone contract! (Sim only contract, I don't need a new phone)

I'm not in any debt at all, Never have been, Always pay my bills on time etc and I can afford it.

Anyone know of possible reasons they can turn you down? Best way to sort it out so I can get a contract in the future?

Thanks.

They’ve told you the reason, it’s your credit.

Check your credit file, see if there’s anything unexpected on there.

Do you have much of a credit history? As in, do you actually have things in your name, proof you can pay things off? If not then that can be a reason in & of itself.

OPs point is they were approved by are to sign up for broadband so it makes no sense that they failed her fir a mobile phone

It's an additional cost, so maybe they think you can't afford it, or perhaps too many checks close together

It does make sense. Being approved for one thing doesn’t automatically mean you’re going to be approved for anything.

I was declined for a phone contract (virgin, not ee) despite having an excellent credit score, until they realised I was the same person who had a contract, which I'd honoured for years, with the television part of their business.

Seems to me that mobile phone contractors have a very high level of risk avoidance.
