I’m making up a gift box for DD22, I’ve got candles and nick nacky bits that I know she’ll like and am going to add some treat food and drinks. What else would be nice to make it a bit more personal?

Kitchen scissors. Always need them and they get mislaid (put somewhere stupid) often. Mug. Hot water bottle.

Basic first aid kit, a torch and some basic tools. S DIY manual if they don't know how to.

My best present was a laundry basket choc full of all the bits and bobs you don’t really think about until you need them - various cleaning products, pegs for hanging washing, bin bags, batteries etc

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 30/10/2024 20:08

Are there any family recipes that she might appreciate? Maybe some recipe cards or a wee notebook?

FutureMandosWife · 30/10/2024 20:09

When we got our first home my mother in law gave us a basket of cleaning stuff, tea towels, washing powder etc, and some silly things we overlook.

when I left home for uni I was given a pack of minty durex and a radiator key!
The radiator key made me very popular once it turned cold!

MerryMidwinter · 30/10/2024 20:22

These are great - love the idea of family recipes. The Durex and radiator key made me laugh!

Should say I’ve also bought them a lovely cabinet they wanted so this is more something just for her from me.

Needles, thread, unpicker. At least she can sew on a button if necessary.

Deathraystare · 31/10/2024 09:31

Deffo cleaning stuff. When I left mum and dads (not even going to College/Uni, just leaving home). I breezed into the local shop for a spray cleaner and some of those blue cloths expecting plenty of change from a fiver and was shocked to get pennies back!

Tool kit and picture hooks.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 31/10/2024 09:36

Nice cosy throw for cuddling up on the sofa. Help save on the heating bill too!

LaTable · 31/10/2024 09:37

A good quality all rounder kitchen knife.
And a really good non stick pan.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 31/10/2024 09:46

Hot water bottle, hand warmers, fleecy throw, oodie, warm socks, hand warmers and a hat. Dehumidifiers that don't need plugging in.

MiddleAgedDread · 31/10/2024 09:48

A basic toolbox and a drill
