Tree surgeon price - poplar tree

There was a recent thread whereby a neighbour was asking op to contribute to the price of a tree being felled, and it was in thousands if I recall. (Can’t find thread).

Just had a price for a tree to be cut down. Under three hundred pounds. Obviously a bigger tree may cost more, but not as much as in that post!

I paid 350 quid to have a full sized tree cut down. The guy asked if I wanted the timber taken away as that would be more but I said no as the tree was in the grounds of a school and the caretaker wanted the timber for his woodburner.

It was about forty feet high and overhanging the garden of a house we rent out, blocking all the light.

I paid €3,800 to get a 200 year old ash tree taken down - it would have been more but the tree surgeon got most of the timber in part payment.

I'd suggest making quite sure that the person giving the low quote is properly insured.

It cost us around £1000 to have a beech tree trimmed around 18 years ago.
It took 2 men, working at heights, about half a day.

The same team took a much smaller tree out for around £600 a year later. It was a far easier job.

At the risk of stating the obvious it will depend on the size of the tree and the ease/difficulty of the work that needs doing, access etc

It's like saying my neighbour just spend £45,000 on a car, but I found one on Gumtree this morning for £1500. Trees aren't like trees in Lego sets, they're not one thing.
