What chores have you done today?

I’ve barely done anything!

I put the dishwasher on and washed two coats. I can’t think of anything else. I didn’t even cook as I made tuna pasta bake yesterday so we had that.

I did go out for a walk for a hour with dc and watched some tv but that was it and the day is gone!

Were you more productive than me today?

Just maintenance stuff, cleaning up the kitchen after meals, running the dishwasher, a load of laundry. Usually Sunday includes the ironing but I can let it slide during the school holidays.

I'll clean the house properly tomorrow morning.

crackofdoom · 27/10/2024 20:44

Fish and chips for the DSes, and a veggie roast for me. And a very nice pint 😊

(We did also have a lovely walk, and a game of Scrabble, so I guess that's a couple of parenting points for me if you ignore the various episodes of bickering, raised voices, threats of consequences etc 🙄)

Yeah I always ignore those things. Keeps me sane 😂

Ineedanewsofa · 27/10/2024 20:55

Descaled the bloody coffee machine! I’ve been ignoring its’ passive aggressive flashing post use for weeks but this morning it refused to work and I was without coffee…
Also 4 loads of laundry, raked some leaves and cooked half a roast. Ferried DD back and forth to playdates and nipped to B&M (spent a fortune obviously!)
Pretty standard Sunday

AperolWhore · 27/10/2024 20:59

Full house clean top to bottom, two loads of washing done, soup for lunches this week made and breakfast for the next few days prepped and made in the fridge. I’ve been child free for 3 hours so I made the most of it.

Havalona · 27/10/2024 21:06

Very little, but what I did was pleasant enough. Didn't go out it was bucketing down and dark and dreary.

I got scarves, hats and gloves out of the storage box.
Got Winter coats out
Got the ankle boots out and polished them up and found the ankle wellies.
(We will hopefully get a very mild Winter now and I won't need any of this!).

Going away in December and went to the "holiday" box and fished out the spare chargers, make up, toiletries etc. that I keep in one place ready for the off. Sorted some clothes for the hols and located the passport.

Made egg muffins as I wasn't all that hungry, they were delish, made them with cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, and strong cheddar, so got my protein in.

Cabbaged now after all that hard work ha ha. Going to hit the sack soon. Perfect lazy Sunday but got a few bits on the list done.

ThisTimeNextWeekDavid · 27/10/2024 21:08

Planted around 20 big pots of spring bulbs.

Used the leaf blower / sucker on the garden.

Pressure washed the pigeon shit off the patio.

Refilled the bird feeders

Tidied the shed.

Emptied / filled / emptied the dishwasher.

Cooked a chicken casserole and jacket potatoes.

Cleaned the oven hob / sides / sink.

Emptied the bins.

Swept the kitchen floor.

Put a load in the washing machine & set the timer for it to be done by 6am tomorrow.

Drank gin!

Havalona · 27/10/2024 21:10

@ThisTimeNextWeekDavid Are you free next Sunday to do all that at mine please?

And could you tell me what tablets you take to give you all that energy. Thank you. 😊

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 27/10/2024 21:11

Delightfully, fuck all

Put a wash on this morning that’s still in the machine at 10pm

Put the dishwasher on at the same time that is not emptied at 10pm and I can’t be fucked doing it.

I have however used the same glass for several glasses of wine So I’ve thoughtfully not contributed to the mess

Havalona · 27/10/2024 21:14

It's only 9pm and put that glass down, or refill it maybe. Clocks went back 😉

Sockmate123 · 27/10/2024 21:19

Hoovered whole house, decluttered some 'paperwork' drawers that were overflowing! 2 x loads of laundry. That's about it. Quite a chill day

LoafofSellotape · 27/10/2024 21:19

Dishwasher

2x loads of washing /drying/ putting
away

Cooked roast dinner

Swept the floor

Cleaned the kitchen

Emptied bins

Watered the houseplants

mamaduckbone · 27/10/2024 21:25

Did a bit of dusting and tidying this morning, loaded and unloaded the dishwasher, swept the kitchen floor and cleaned the bathroom.
Then we were out for most of the day, but this evening, Dh and I cooked dinner and cleaned up between us and I've done half an hour of ironing.
That's quite a lot for me on a Sunday when I see it written down. We were away for half term so I've been trying to get on top of things a bit.

ThisTimeNextWeekDavid · 27/10/2024 21:27

@Havalona I’m yours for £35 an hour! It took from 10am - 4pm…

TBH, the gardening was pure pleasure. Adore all aspects of it.

The kitchen cleaning was the normal post cooking clear down.

(I also put a shopping delivery away)

Tisfortired · 27/10/2024 21:37

Dc stayed out at my mums last night so I made use of the time this morning while they weren’t here. DH kept saying will you sit down and relax but I couldn’t miss the opportunity to clean in peace! So before 9am this morning I -

Cleaned the kitchen
Tidied the dining room (including clearing all the clutter of the windowsill and table and wiping it down which had been bothering me)
Swept the kitchen, dining room and hallway
Put the tea towels and dish cloths on a hot wash
Tidied the lounge, wiped down all the surfaces and hoovered
Hoovered the stairs and landing

Then nipped to M&S to pick up something nice for lunch and the 3 for £12 Halloween food for our Halloween picky tea on Thursday.

When I got back I -

Made a lasagna
Cleaned the kitchen again
Put the tea towels on the heated airer and put another wash on
Quick tidy of upstairs which I will do more thoroughly tomorrow.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 27/10/2024 21:39

Nah, not done much, I've totally changed in the last couple of years since changing to a much busier and stressful job and going through menopause. I'm too knackered, I can't be arsed with it, I have nothing left to give by the weekend. Certainly nothing left to give by the end of term (I work in a school and we broke up yesterday).

I used to make sure the basics were up to date at the weekend, like kitchen and bathroom clean and tidy, laundry and ironing done, food shop done. But the last child started uni this year and since then it's like we've breathed out a sigh of 20 years' worth of relief and decided to just slob out for a bit. 😆

I don't really care, and I don't feel guilty. The only reason I'd care is if we had an unexpected visitor. The place is not unhygienic really but if I went to an Air BnB at this level of cleanliness I'd probably have a moan.

I had a lie in (yes, even with the extra hour). Went to the inlaws for a coffee. Came back and put a wash on. Ate peanut butter on toast for lunch, cos I could. Binge watched telly this afternoon. Hung the washing up , made myself an easy tea (DH had leftovers from last night) and I'm going back to the telly in a minute.

I'll be back on it tomorrow, I just needed a couple of days of slobbing around to decompress from the mad 8 weeks that was school since September.

JustAnonymous · 27/10/2024 21:42

Finished sorting through a huge amount of clothes, put the dishwasher and washing machine on, cleaned the bird's cage out and hoovered and mopped. Quite productive for me on a Sunday 😁

CurlyhairedAssassin · 27/10/2024 21:42

Sometimes the "what does your weekend look like" posts like these make me laugh. You hardly get anyone coming on saying "I've been a lazy sod and I couldn't care less." It usually reads like a Mrs Hinch blog entry.

Ooof! Do you mind saying how old you are and if you work FT?

ViciousCurrentBun · 27/10/2024 21:45

Hung up three loads of washing, I started one of those lots lot off
Folded up two lots of dry washing
Washed one kitchen cupboard
Sorted out a load of paperwork of my Dads, reduced from a large suitcase to a shoebox. Was sad and difficult

TheChosenTwo · 27/10/2024 21:46

Went for a swim first thing which is pure pleasure and not a chore despite the fact that it was 12 degrees and pretty fresh!

Dh and I sorted the garden for winter, swept the whole patio and sides of the house, moved all the outside furniture first and then covered the bbq and other bits. He jetwashed and I moved the log delivery to the log store. Took a few hours all in, back breaking work but quite enjoyable in the sunshine.

Then he cleaned out the chicken coop and I met family and took dd for a walk.

Got back and dh was just finished in the garden (he had some odds and sods of wood to burn). I put some washing on but other than that I’ve not done much in the way of ‘house’ chores.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 27/10/2024 22:24

Loads 🫤

Hoovered the whole house (tbf it's not actually that big 🙈😂)

Put a wash on, hung it out and folded away.

Did a big food shop

Put big food shop away

Cooked a roast dinner

Washed up and tidied the kitchen

Walked the dog

The joys of being a single parent 🤷‍♀️

mondaytosunday · 27/10/2024 22:28

Uh, hmm. Walked the dog, does that count? It's a Sunday and it's my day off from chores.

leia24 · 27/10/2024 22:29

Cleaned the kitchen, did a wash and put it on the airer, hoovered and mopped, and went to my new house to wait for some deliveries, made stew and washed up

ShamblesRock · 27/10/2024 22:42

I did some plaster repair. It is just in a cupboard, but an area of plaster fell off after we removed some fixed shelves. It probably isn't great, but it will be painted and then be behind a closed door.

I've never done anything like it before, so I'm quite chuffed it turned out ok (pleased no-one will really see it though)

I’m not in the U.K. 😉
