I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, after what felt like a nice long lie in with both kittens. It wasn't 🙄 it was my usual 8am but I slept an hour longer because of the clocks going back. Both kittens are fed, boy's gone back upstairs to bed, and girl's curled up on the chair opposite mine. I thought she was coming to sit with me, but no.

Both girls are still in bed and will be for a good while yet I imagine. Dd1 was tired after work yesterday, and dd2 was staying up to watch someone's stream of Adele from Vegas.

My plan for today is send a couple of Vinted parcels, upload some more to it, and continue spring cleaning the kitchen. I need to nip to the shop for loo rolls too. Think I'll get us all some sweet treats while I'm there.

I'm not sure what's for tea yet - I forgot to defrost something overnight so will look shortly.

Tonight it's an early Self-Care-Sunday scrubby shower, followed by an hour or two with my crochet and one of my books. I have three on the go but should really finish one of them that I've been reading for aaaaages I think 🤔

What about all of you? 🙂

Trinity69 Hope your DP can get his operation quickly.

Congratulations Fixesplease

Went to fireworks last night which were lovely and had rather underwhelming pizza there but lovely toffee apples and hot chocolate with chocolate orange pieces and cream.

This morning forgot to reset the breakfast clock on the cat so got poked at 5.30am and cat got his tuna breakfast and I got a cup of tea.

DH is still asleep, not heard any sound of DS either. I have a lily of the valley candle lit and just relaxing, am 5 weeks post diep surgery so not allowed to do much.

Will have a Sunday roast later, and need to get the silkies up now.

Heelworkhero · 27/10/2024 09:49

I got up just after 8 (9 really…..) as my dog was squeaking at me.
I had a cup of tea and did some fun games/training with him as he can’t go out at the moment - he’s contagious.

Put 2 loads of washing out on the line and another in the machine.

Off to yoga shortly, then meeting sone friends for lunch.

Quiet rest of the day planned - might sort out the dog’s toy/enrichment chest, read and watch trashy TV.

I’m enjoying being just the 2 of us as DH is away until very late this evening.

Morning @lucysmam and everyone. Currently getting ready for DD's rugby session. After that DD has some homework to finish. She's at a sleepover later - so will be getting her ready for that. Once she's out I'll be getting ready for return to work (tomorrow) and school (Tuesday). Might have a bath and a pamper, watch the Strictly results and then an early night as aiming to be in work by 7.30 tomorrow

Trying to get used to my quiet empty nest whilst being jealous your kids are still at home @lucysmam

Another beautiful day here! Yesterday felt like a warm, spring day. I’m enjoying the extra hour this morning and slowly getting chores done between sausage sandwiches and coffee. I have some bigger jobs in mind, such as decluttering a big cupboard, so I’m gearing myself up to tackle that.

We’re off to meet friends for a carvery this afternoon so DH is thrilled to not be cooking and I’m pleased I don’t need to do loads of cleaning up. I’m not too sure how the rest of the day will look. I expect we’ll lounge around and have a nice bottle of red wine.

Thislittlekitten · 27/10/2024 10:18

Morning all. Early start today as dog didn’t get the memo about the time change.

Had him out for a walk with DS which was nice. DH made breakfast.

Lots of ironing to catch up on today and need to organise a food shop.

Visiting family later. Plan to read for a bit too. Have got out the habit since holiday.

Webbb · 27/10/2024 10:55

Good morning everyone! :)

I didn't get an extra hour sleep as my body clock doesn't care about clock changes. But I'm still in bed hours later with the dogs, mumsnetting.

I need to get up and get ready as we've got 10 over for Sunday roast today. DW has been cooking up a storm in the kitchen since 7am and won't let me help as it's her thing and she really enjoys it. It's her huge family coming for lunch so she's happy. I find it a bit overwhelming even though I like them all separately!

My empty nest is fuller today as DS is home for the holidays. Need to wake him up. Things never change- he can always sleep til silly o'clock. Love having him around.

So a day of food, entertaining, no doubt board games. We bought sushi from Costco yesterday to have a light tea this evening and we'll do face masks and chill after a busy day no doubt, we have the second half of Strictly to watch too.

Good morning (just!), all’s quiet here because DH, DS, DDIL, DGCs and the dog have all gone out for a walk 🙏
I didn’t sleep well for various reasons so feeling a bit meh. I have emptied and reloaded the dw, tidied up and made a fish pie for tonight. There’s homemade squash soup with rolls for lunch, plenty of other bits for nibbling.
sun’s shining and I have hung a load of washing out, second load nearly finished.
The lovely DGSs have asked if I can knit them a pair of socks each, they’ve chosen the yarn from my stash so I will start a pair in a bit.
Have a lovely afternoon and evening 🌻

Good morning, very very little planned here today, our son is learning to do a turban, he has very little patience so he is currently having a strop in his room and sulking like a baby.

My husbands new toy was delivered today, so he is on a video call with his grandma to show it off, said toy is a robot hoover.

Our daughers having a danger nap, so we await the mini dictator waking up.

embolass · 27/10/2024 12:13

Sitting with my third cuppa of the morning, didn’t get the benefit of the extra hr as our old dog was yelping every couple hrs, up 4 times. He then just sits looking at us when we go to him. Out for toilet etc biscuit then starts again at random times. otherwise he’s well (12 and half) could it be starting of dementia? ☹️ Changed oldest DS bed, and DH has put on new headboard and then he’s off to the tip with a load of stuff. I got garden finally tidied for autumn yesterday and now about to peel veg for roast pork, roasties carrots Yorkshire puds broccoli and peas. Few wines too no doubt after a dog walk this afternoon

Judellie · 27/10/2024 12:46

Not done much, really.
Dropped DS off at church then DH and I went to Wickes and got a hook for the back of the office/spare bedroom door. Also got a bit of a topup of stuff at Iceland and Lidl - don't normally go to Lidl but found it even cheaper than Aldi.
Came back and DH put the hooks on the door (he bought some the other week but lost them), then I took DD to work.
Came back and had lunch; just about to take a little charity bag across to Barnardo's in Tesco, then I'll do my walk on the way back.
Sore knee but think it was because i was jumping about yesterday and had already hurt it a bit at Clip and Climb - so it probably needs a rest.
DH will do a roast dinner at teatime while I pick DD up (he can't drive) and not sure yet if DB is visiting and having his dinner too.

Kim82 · 27/10/2024 13:10

Good afternoon everyone, sorry for the late post! I took dd10 to the cinema for 10am as I’d promised I would and have just got home, via Tesco as we needed to buy some pumpkins and some hot chocolate.

Dd17 left for work as we walked into the house, dh has lounged about all morning watching tv and dd20 has been doing some washing I think. I’m just about to make us some lunch then we all need to chip in a clean the house as it’s a mess. Dd10 then needs to do her homework ready for back to school tomorrow then we’re getting the Halloween decorations down from the attic and putting them up. Tea tonight is shepherds pie (although I cba cooking at the moment so it may well end up being a takeaway) then pumpkin carving, uniform ironing and showers before early nights all round.

Congratulations @Fixesplease , you have an exciting time ahead. A slow start here this morning, I was happy for the extra hour and managed to sleep in. My DM had been in hospital for the past 10 days after several falls. Visiting and checking on my DF daily as well as normal daily life has left me very tired! They are moving her to re-enablement this week so I’m hoping it will be a little less hectic. Cooked a big roast dinner for the family this afternoon and DF has come over for the company. Will watch Strictly results tonight and have a rest ready for the coming week with added half term for good measure. Weather is gorgeous today, bright and sunny. Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone.

After doing solo walks this week, husband can't walk very far and is a bit poorly.... I enjoyed a walk in the woods with one daughter and one grandson. Truly lovely weather, went to local, to them, pizza place where another grandchild works and had a pizza there. Quick cup of tea and then left for home as husband tired and half an hour drive ( I don't) He is now ensconced in front of telly and I am in a hot bath. Really feel better getting out as 24/07 caring can be draining and he enjoyed it too, albeit not walking but sitting in the woodland car park...
