I've just finished my first cuppa of the day & have put the kettle on for a second one. No chance of peace this morning though 🙄. Dd1's up and getting sorted for work, dd2's up because she got up to watch someone's stream of Adele from Vegas, and the kittens are causing absolute chaos - they've managed to pull down part of the clothes airer & make a huge racket doing it 🙈🤣

I was planning to start reading the intro to Nigel Slater's Christmas Chronicles but maybe not this morning. I'll pop an earphone in instead, while I start my pre-Christmas big clean & organise in the kitchen, and listen on Spotify.

Dd1's off to work for 10:30 until this evening, and I think dd2's just ready for a day off. I asked yesterday if she fancied doing anything & she said only if I did 🤷‍♀️

Later on I'll carry on my crochet pug dog & maybe some more of my book in front of Gilmore Girls.

What about all of you? 🙂

I'm away in Haworth, West Yorkshire for the weekend.

We've been down for a cooked (veggie) breakfast. I couldn't eat much as I'm on semaglutide injections, but enjoyed it all the same.

I'm lounging in our room atm. Later we'll have a walk up the main street, browse my favourite shops here, which are: Wave of Nostalgia, great for books on Feminism and for quirky greetings cards, t shirts and other bits and bobs. Also The Cabinet of Curiosities, where I'll buy pumpkin spiced candles and waxes and my favourite rose scented bath salts.

Later we're having dinner at Haworth Old Hall, roaring open fire, pumpkins and other Halloweeny stuff aplenty and maybe a sherry or two if my semaglutide restricted belly will allow it!

Haworth is just wonderful this time of year, misty, chilly and decorated beautifully 🎃

Morning @lucysmam

DD was dropped off at the yard at stupid o clock in thick fog. Straight home, load of washing in and all the cats sorted by 9.30am. Currently lazing in front of the fire with a cup of tea.

Have to go into the city this afternoon for flu jabs and to return 2 pairs of shoes. Will try and find something for tea whilst we're out, collect DD and home for Strictly.

Whattheduck · 26/10/2024 10:46

Morning all
Dh is back home after working away for a month he’s just got up and is in the shower
Dd drove back from uni last night she’s got half term next week we’ve just had breakfast together now she’s gone to get dressed
I’m full of cold and currently on the sofa having another coffee
Dh and Dd are going to do the weekly shop
Will whizz the Hoover round later when Dd and her boyfriend take the dog for a walk
No plans for later probably have homemade pizzas and salad in front of the tv then have an early night and listen to a podcast or read

InglouriousBasterd · 26/10/2024 10:49

Morning all! Quiet start to the day after a busy week, DD came home from a sleepover and has no plans for the rest of the day. I’m going to change sheets and tidy up before heading into town for a coffee, wander and cinema. Home for jacket potatoes and Strictly, and some more Ludwig!

DilemmaDelilah · 26/10/2024 10:54

Good morning @lucysmam . DH is away this weekend so I have the house to myself. I'm on antibiotics at the moment which are playing havoc with my already fragile gut, so I was up and in the loo about 5.30, then I had a lovely hot bath and went down to feed the cat and get my breakfast. I put on a wash and sat with the cat until about 8.00, then went back to bed with a hot water bottle and slept for another couple of hours.

I'm now downstairs again, having given the cat some more food (she's very elderly and likes lots of little meals) - I'm currently wrapping the flapjacks we put out for our delivery drivers, then I will put them in the box on the doorstep, put the first wash into the tumble dryer and put another wash on.

After that I'm going to make a cup of coffee and start making some Christmas decorations. My sister and I are going to share a table at a Christmas Fair and I hope to sell them there.

RabbitsRock · 26/10/2024 11:00

Inglouriousbasterd is Ludwig good?

Decafflatteplease · 26/10/2024 11:04

Morning @lucysmam and all!

Start of half term here so a slow morning here just pottering around.

Everyone's shattered, we can't decide what to do this afternoon between staying in, going to the cinema or going to a national trust place for a walk. I quite fancy a walk.

Dinner is m and s ready meals Thai box. Mac and cheese for those who don't want Thai.

Wine and TV with DH tonight.

mondaytosunday · 26/10/2024 11:05

Gosh it's almost 11am and I'm still eating breakfast- brunch more like! Since my DD went to uni my evenings have gone on later (turned off the bedroom light at 2am last night) and morning starts have consequently got later!
Plan today is get dog out, then work on my Etsy shop - someone has requested a particular design so need to follow up with that.
Then I'm crocheting my sister a throw for Xmas - trying to use up some of my stash! The weather looks grey so I foresee an afternoon by the fire surrounded by yarn - my happy place.

vodkaredbullgirl · 26/10/2024 11:19

Relaxing as I have work tonight and the clocks go back 😞 extra hour to work.

babbi · 26/10/2024 11:19

Slowing down my pace today .
2 washings done and repaired my Eufy .
Making and taking food to elderly parents .
Good clean of house and then taking 2 DD s out for dinner .

I loved reading all your plans .
Have a great day everyone 😀

Topsy44 · 26/10/2024 11:28

Good morning (just!) Lucysman and All!

Finally made it to half term and feeling shattered so a lovely slow morning here with a lie in until 10!!

Going to the shops this afternoon with DD to have a mooch about and will give car a treat of a valet clean at shopping centre. Then home for Strictly and Rivals once DD is in bed.

PermanentTemporary · 26/10/2024 11:32

@lucysmam Public Service Broadcasting! Love them but haven't seen them live. Hoping your Taylor Swift adventures were good.

Zippedydodah · 26/10/2024 11:39

Good morning everyone!
DS, DDIL and the DGCs are coming later for a couple of days so I have cleaned through the house, made up the beds, cooked ratatouille pasta for tonight, made a blackberry apple crumble, sorted out and prepared the vegetables for spicy butternut squash soup and put away a Sainsbury’s shop. Having a coffee before I make the soup for tomorrow’s lunch.
DH has just come back from walking the dog, they’ll be asleep all afternoon 😊, he’s said he’ll walk her again later.
My stamina isn’t what it was, I think my heart failure is ramping up again, so I have to do as much as I can with limitations 🤷🏼‍♀️
I hope you have a lovely weekend 🌻, the sun’s shining here.

RabbitsRock · 26/10/2024 12:27

Afternoon @lucysmam & everyone. Off to work soon then picking up pizzas from the counter at Asda. Fancied chippy tea but you need to take out a 2nd mortgage! Will be watching The Voice final tonight. It’s a beautiful sunny day here in Cornwall ☀️☀️☀️ so I’d much rather be outdoors than in a very busy store but hey ho. Have a lovely Saturday all.

DilemmaDelilah · 26/10/2024 13:20

@RabbitsRock I really enjoyed Ludwig. It's murder after murder (of course) but gentle and funny as well.

Oldraver · 26/10/2024 15:34

Had a good lie in, did some washing then was informed by the boy there was a baby hedgehog outside

He's now in a box awaiting being taken to a rescue lady

Judellie · 26/10/2024 15:57

Had a lie in, then a shower.
Still loads of stuff from my mum's to clear in our front room but got through a bag, found some lovely red earrings so wearig those and took some stuff to charity shop, then went for a walk.
Done two lots of washing and changed our bed.
DS went off somewhere on the metro
DH and DD went to Comic Con then to YO Sushi then DD went to work. She finishes at 7 so we'll all meet then and go to Wetherspoons for tea.
Been reading Angels in my hair by Lorna Byrne so enjoying that.
DH is away intot hte loft with his model railway; I'm hoping he finds the door hooks he bought the other weekend for the spare room as I would really like them up.
Enjoy your Saturdays everyone

GiddyRobin · 26/10/2024 16:16

We've been up since early but it was a nice day. Long walk in the woods with the kids and dogs, little picnic and then we drove to find a cheese shop. We can't be bothered cooking so we're doing a cheeseboard sort of thing.

Home now and DS is reading, DD is playing, and I'm on the sofa with a book keeping an eye and relaxing a bit. DH has an event next week so he's doing violin practice, and it sounds beautiful.

We're both knackered because it's been such a hectic week, so we're going to snuggle up and watch a spooky film together later when the kids are in bed. I might have a nice hot bath in between times though, if my sister doesn't pop around. The kids have got new pet rats and she wants to meet them. 😂

Hope everyone has a lovely rest of the day.

andsmile · 26/10/2024 16:50

I love reading this thread and I hope it’s been ok to just join in - I seldom post

Got back from holiday 2pm and have third wash in. I’m now settled on sofa and I am soooo pleased to be back home.

Takeaway planned for later, adding to Tesco shop for delivery tomorrow

Have a lovely evening all

Plantymcplantface · 26/10/2024 17:10

Loved reading this thread. Start of half term here. I’ve done some cleaning, stripped a wall with DD for our half term room decor. Sorted things for next charity shop drop. Browsed for new sofa and done a lot of Mumsnetting.

Made butternut squash and carrot soup for lunch and had a snooze…

DDs are now getting stuck into art and we have a new board game. Suddenly don’t feel so guilty about “doing nothing”. @JaffaCake70 I asked Howarth too - any hotel recommendations?

mamaduckbone · 26/10/2024 17:24

Good afternoon @lucysmam and mumsnet - didn't have time to post this morning but I always like to seek this thread out and have a browse at what everyone's day has been like.

I've had a busy one - went for my usual run this morning then quick turnaround before picking my mum up and taking her over to my brother's for her birthday lunch - she's 92! All my nieces and nephews were there with their children so it's been a lovely day of catching up and playing with little ones. I've just got home and flopped on the sofa with dh who's been out at rugby with ds2 all day.
There's chilli in the slow cooker for dinner - it will be a film and not much else this evening I think. I'm debating whether I fancy a glass of wine.

mathanxiety · 26/10/2024 18:22

I have the whole place to myself for once, apart from Dcat.

I went to the farmers' market, where I bought some nice knobbly looking gourds that I washed and put on my mantelpiece, and a little bag of freshly baked doughnuts, one of which I gobbled with a mug of tea.

Will go grocery shopping later, or possibly leave that to tomorrow, and drop off four bags to the thrift shop. Also some mundane chores - laundry incl bedding, dust and polish everywhere, empty the dishwasher, write a shopping list. Maybe sort through the bathroom cupboard and throw out stuff we never use.
