what would be the best eating plan or diet to follow. Not keen to do strict low carb. I feel hungry most of the time, perhaps I need more protein but prefer to avoid protein shakes.
Any advice please? I need to lose at least 2st

Can you identify the type of hunger? I have 2 - actual hunger and low level cravings.

Cutting out sugar/ soft drinks helps with this for me, but it's not always easy.

Healthy fats, a good amount of protein, avoid refined carbs (so have whole grain alternatives). Reduce UPFs (but don’t be obsessive about any of it). Look up insulin resistance.

I've been on mounjaro for 10 weeks and lost 33lb without even trying. It's been life changing.

BookishType · 25/10/2024 15:05

Have a look at the Mounjaro threads.

I have not been hungry once since I started it over 12 weeks ago.

I'm in the same boat. And have about the same to lose. It's so hard. People say things like hunger pangs are good because they show you your body is losing weight. But I can't get on board with that, as soon as I'm hungry I want to eat! And I have no self control. It's all carbs and stodge for me - pasta, bread, cheese, biscuits, anything potato based.

Protein is the key, I know this. It fills you up and makes your body work harder to break it down. But the issue is I'm not just not that fond of protein heavy snacks. Eggs are ok but everything else is just meh to me.

It's a long process because you really need to unpick all of your eating habits and attitudes surrounding food. I know I need to because I look and feel pretty shit at the moment. But the motivation always wears off when there's a McDonald's on offer.

Good luck, am following for inspiration!

They don’t need to be snacks. If you eat healthy fats, protein and whole grains plus plenty of veg at meal times, you won’t need or want snacks.

Great question! Yes, both

Sometimes hunger is actually thirst - do you drink plenty OP?

FoxyMulder · 25/10/2024 15:10

If you're properly hungry all the time, it could be that your hormones are out of whack, and I believe Mounjaro can help with that.

Otherwise, focusing on getting plenty of protein and healthy fats should make you feel more satiated.

Mrsttcno1 · 25/10/2024 15:10

More protein, not shakes but just making sure protein is the focus of your meals.

And volume eating is a big one, bulk your meals out with veg, you can eat a lot of it to fill you up without adding 100’s of calories.

Onetwothreemisstwo123 · 25/10/2024 15:12

Intermittent fasting was what worked for me (although I believe we all have to find what works for us as it might not work for others).
I was a size 14/16 now a 6 and have kept it off for over a year. I found by setting my rules I stuck to them and was less hungry/less likely to snack than normal.

Walkacrossthesand · 25/10/2024 15:17

McDonalds is always there, but is never on offer if you've decided it's not.

WhitneyBaby · 25/10/2024 15:30

Low carb with an emergency low calorie hot chocolate works for me. It’s hard for the first two weeks but then gets a lot easier and I lose a stone in a month and the 8-9lb the next month.
