Occasional knee pain

F 52. Occasionally, 1-3 times a day, I'll be walking and my knee will suddenly ( lock/ click/give way) and will really hurt. BUT this only lasts a minute or so. What could this be? Any one had similar?

Yes I get this, I can just be standing at cooker and my right knee feels like it "snaps"
I can almost hear it, and it's painful.
It can happen any time and always the right knee

I've had meralgia paresthetica for the last few years too, again only the right leg ( top of thigh) do you have this too?

I'm lying awake right now, reading posts and my right knee is aching.
Not that bad but there have been times it has been so painful I can hardly get up the stairs when I have to put weight on it.
My right ankle too hurts at times too.
I get it year round but it's much worse in the cold damp months of winter, than it is in the summer.
I just figured it was arthritis from an old injury I had many years ago when I twisted my knee hard.

Arthritis, most likely. Try to strengthen the muscles around and above your knees. Flex them as often as possible. Consider taking glucosamine & chondroitin supplements, fish oil and collagen. If it really hurts and flexing it doesn't help, apply heat.

I've been advised that before, about the fish oil, glucosamine & chondroitin.
I have a hot water bottle on it right now because it feels better.
Thanks @Garlicbest for the advice about the exercises, that makes sense.

That is how my rheumatoid arthritis started out. Infrequent little twinges. I put it down to early osteoarthritis arthritis, especially as I was on my feet most of the day at work, but no, it was the fun that is RA. Those twinges gradually developed into fairly intense pain in most bilateral joints and I have had a double knee replacement.

My advice is get it checked out NOW because early intervention may help to prevent quite of lot of joint and cartilage damage.

Similar here. The physio advice was to strengthen my leg muscles. I do Pilates once a week, take glucosamine etc. as mentioned by PP.

No pain now, but I often feel like my knee goes out of joint if I’m sitting cross-legged or kneeling on the floor. It pops back into place immediately thank goodness!
