Overlocker suggestions please!

I'm thinking about buying an overlocker. Whilst I don't want to buy a model I might outgrow or find it flimsy or annoying (I've read reviews on some that say the pedal cable is a bit short for example), I'm also wary of buying something really expensive that I might never use all features of. Any thoughts please?

I had a second hand Aldi one to start with and then when the timing went completely I bought a Brother 2104D which is in the lower price range but does all I need and is incredibly easy to thread which is important. The Aldi (or maybe Lidl) are rebadged Singers and I was very pleased with mine but it had had a harder life than I was led to believe.

In terms of features there isn’t as much difference as there is with a sewing machine. Mine came with a gathering foot and a blind stitch foot which I have never used as gathering and blind stitch are easy enough on the standard foot

I bought the cheap Aldi overlocker about 10 years ago, as I was unsure whether I'd use it. It's been so useful! I now use it for stretch fabrics, neatening seams as it gives a better finish than zigzags, almost everything I make has some overlocking on it. I'm now looking to upgrade as it can be a bit temperamental but it's convinced me. I'm looking at a Bernette or Husquvarna.

Oh thank you @Jins and @NotMeNoNo! I knew this was a bit niche so wasn't really expecting to get any replies. 😊
I've looked at the Brother 3034WT but don't really know what I'm looking for in the way of an overlocker - I've never used one before, but want to start working with stretch fabrics.

@vipersnest1 the Brother that you are looking at looks very much like mine but with a waste bin and extension table, both of which I wish I had 🤣. It’s a good solid machine. I’m lucky to have Jaycotts nearby so had a few demonstrated before I chose the Brother, partly on build quality but mostly on ease of threading.

You won’t regret buying an overlocker. I thought it was a luxury and it turns out it’s an essential.

You might get some more suggestions on the Stitch and Bitch threads but join us anyway

Babylock all the way. Mine is about 15 years old and never skips a beat. The dog got tangled in the lead and pulled it off the table. It’s still working perfectly. You could always try and get one second hand.
