Holiday club, we have to work as it's a busy period at work. Thankfully she absolutely loves it and some of her friends will be there too.
Going to do days out at the weekends

mumbruh · 23/10/2024 13:59

Staying in probably might take an autumn walk down the coast though and the park.
Normally in the autumn and winter half terms we stay in and do...
Baking (cakes or biscuits)
Ice gingerbread men (we buy giant ones)
Cooking (spagbol or soup- kids chop all the veg etc)
Nerf wars
Board games
We normally have an exercise day too
And of course we do a teensy bit of homework too.

We have a very unusually busy one this year for DS.
A family day at the local football team my DS supports
Visits to family
A day at football camp holiday club
Halloween
Bonfire and fireworks
A farm visit
And lots of halloween crafts

Forestfruits7 · 23/10/2024 14:04

What age is everyone’s dc? Mine is 13 and we will have days out.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 23/10/2024 14:18

DS is 5. We have planned:

Weekend away up north (this weekend, come back Sun PM)

1 day holiday club whilst I work 😭

1 day out round a friends + cinema whilst I work 😂😭

1 day @ Legoland with the friend from the day before (we swapped childcare for the day!)

1 day at home (I think we'll make a birthday cake for a friend, get the Lego out, watch lots of TV and veg out!)

1 day into London for NHM/Science Museum and a bit of shopping.

Then a normal weekend of groups/classes/probably a zoo trip.

MrsPostmanPat · 23/10/2024 14:24

DS 13. Found a wildlife park just over an hour away I'd not heard of before so going to that for the day. Also spending going to a Halloween event in the week. Will be a lazy week otherwise.

Forestfruits7 · 23/10/2024 14:35

Little- wow that’s busy enjoy.

Mrs - what type of Halloween event? We’ve done pumpkins picking.

all enjoy.

Ds is 15 and on half term now, he has his head down revising for mocks (they start Nov 12th). He did have Monday afternoon to meet his friends in town, and I'm taking him out for lunch on Saturday, but he always knew this half term would be about revision.

GalaticalFarce · 23/10/2024 15:45

Some fun for Halloween - scary film and sweets
Visit family
Meet ups with friends
Day trip somewhere

Chipsahoy · 23/10/2024 15:51

Week two of half term here, it’s gone so quickly. Castle walk, river walk. Beach. Halloween spooky trail. We have been pumpkin picking. Lots of crafts and baking. Ski slope was fun too. Currently having a film afternoon. Might do swimming too later this week.

KingOfPeace · 23/10/2024 15:53

Youngest DC is 16 and SEN

Our half terms usually look a lot like weekends. We'll do something out of the house every day eg lunch in a pub, visit to granny, trampolining, shopping trip, swimming. The rest of the time he'll be on playstation or watching YouTube, can sometimes be persuaded to play footie in the garden or a board game. Need to do some GCSE revision.

Nome of it is brag-worthy. We thought about going away but it's just doing the same in a different country. He's happy, no one is stressed. All good.

JaninaDuszejko · 23/10/2024 15:53

We're going to Greece 😁

Forestfruits7 · 23/10/2024 16:15

lots of nice things everyone. Enjoy.🙂

9 year old here.

3 days learn to ice skate course
1 day with me - meeting friends at an NT place
1 day with husband (not sure what they are doing)
Then a weekend in the Peak District.

Hedonism · 23/10/2024 17:35

I love October half term, DC are 10 and 13. We've got a mixture planned - a couple of nights away (UK based), a couple of holiday clubs (sporty for one, crafty for the other), friends over for movies and sleepover, Halloween, fireworks, and the bits in between we will fill with autumn walks and baking. Also probably YouTube 😂

Forestfruits7 · 23/10/2024 20:59

Hed - I love October half term too :)

An attraction about an hour away will be open till 9:30pm and have people dressed up, turnip carving displays, you can make a wicker man and then put it on the fire. Plus other activities. I've never been before but know people who have and they rave about it.

IfIToldYouThisAboutMe · 23/10/2024 21:16

Oh and if you haven’t been to legoland for brick or treat. It’s great.

Definitely avoid LEGOLAND 🤣
it’s hell, screaming bored children as queues are horrendous 50-60 minutes wait for a 2 minute ride if you’re lucky it even lasts that long!!!

StressedQueen · 23/10/2024 21:26

I've got 2 15 year old twins who will be revising for mock exams - both of theirs start in early November so not long left. They've got Halloween parties though and will be going to the library with friends for a "revision day."

My 12 year old son will be going out with his friends to town a lot, going round to their houses etc. for most of half term. He's got 2 birthday parties he's looking forward to including a sleepover. As well as hopefully a little bit of revision for some topic tests!

He'll be pretty much doing his own thing but he'll join in on a bit of what me, DH and our 9 and 6 year old daughters are up to.

We've got an ice skating rink booked for them, we'll go swimming and for lots of walks and also to the park with some of our friends. They've both got a birthday party each to attend. Their friends are coming around for a joint play date on one day. Doing Halloween trick or treating. I'm thinking lots of baking as well.

And then hopefully at least one big family day out! I know my older 3 are super busy but I'm hoping to find one free day 😭

It will be busy but not as busy as the summer hols.

I'm a teacher, so very lucky I don't have to worry about childcare. I have 2 DDs, age 6 and 3.

Weekend - pumpkin picking on a local farm, DDs' usual swimming lessons.
Monday - Halloween messy play run by a friend of mine.
Tuesday - Free craft activity at ikea
Wednesday - Both DDs in childcare all day (holiday club and nursery) so I can catch up on school work.
Thursday - Get organised for Halloween night. We usually buy the sweets on the day. DD1 has a friend over in the afternoon. Trick or treating in the evening.
Friday - Trip to London (we live within driving distance). Stay in Premier Inn.
Sat - Trip to London. Go home at night.
Sunday - chill at home (well, as much as you can with two small children!).

Noidea2024 · 23/10/2024 22:00

Mine have the day off Friday, so I'm taking them to a zoo.
We're then heading away for a four night trip to the Cotswolds, visiting granny en route. Thursday will be preparing for a Halloween tea and trick or treating with friends, then I'm working Friday, so SH will take them somewhere. The final weekend, they have hair cuts, so will have a nice morning in the near-by city, before heading to a traditional Sussex bonfire celebration in the evening.
