Orthodox Jewish men and boys. What were they carrying?

This morning I was in a very Orthodox Jewish area. Nearly all the men and older boys were carrying something very long (about half their height long) in a zipped up bag. From a distance, the bags looked like they contained something you’d unfold e.g. a rotary washing line.
I’ve tried Googling what it was but all I come up with is something about carrying black bags or plastic bags. So what were they carrying? And does it have anything to do with a Tuesday morning (I’ve not seen them doing this before)?

It is Sukkot and they probably had an Etrog and Lulav which is shaken

Possibly the lulav as its Sukkot https://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/609564/jewish/The-Lulav-and-Etrog-The-Four-Kinds.htm

Thanks both. So the long bag would have contained a palm branch? And some other branches?
