How do you dry period pants in the winter months

I've just started using them. In the summer they went outside to dry. How about winter, I assume they can't go in the dryer and they take ages to dry. We don't have our heating on yet.

Mine go in the dryer (even though they're not supposed to). Been doing it for ages.

supersun23 · 22/10/2024 09:18

Which setting do you use?

On the airer, they've got three weeks to dry so no rush, they take a couple of days normally.

The dryer will be fine but you'll just need to replace them more often as it breaks down the absorbancy.

I have a heated airer. My house is too cold for my tumble dryer to work in the winter so I needed an alternative.

Stretchedresources · 22/10/2024 09:22

Washing line. It doesn't take much sun and a breeze to make them almost dry. DD wears hers all the time and it's never a problem.

I don’t know about ‘period pants’ but I put just about everything in the dryer regardless of the label. I only dry the most precious of stuff on an airer.

Pumpkinsandchutney · 22/10/2024 09:22

Heated airer all the way. Invaluable during autumn/winter when washing can't go outside. I'm too tight to tumble - maybe that ought to be my username 🙃

Which ones does she have? Mine seem really thick and take ages, even in the sunshine.

Double spin in the machine then airer with dehumidifier, the airing cupboard where it’s warm. Still take at least two to three days though (have very high absorbency ones though) I think tumble dryers and placing them on direct heat sources reduces the absorbency so I don’t do it.

Heated airer for me too (it was from Lakeland and is amazing)

Same, and never had an issue. I have many brands from Period! to Modibodi and all just get chucked in on a regular dry setting. My oldest pairs are probably 4/5 years as well and are still just as absorbent.

Wellingtonspie · 22/10/2024 14:30

On the airier with the dehumidifier on. Or if dd has been a bit lax in bringing her tub down. I have them off a chair right infront of a radiator.

She has Modibody and Next.

OnaBegonia · 22/10/2024 14:34

Pop your heating on for an hour and dry on radiator

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 22/10/2024 14:34

Heated airer. M&S, heavy flow ones and they dry overnight which is needed as I'm still building supplies up.

Same. Don't seem to have suffered for it.

MouldyCandy · 22/10/2024 14:37

Drying rack on top of the tumble dryer to utilise the residual heat plus a dehumidifier.

noscoobydoodle · 22/10/2024 14:39

My flowette cotton ones just go in the tumble drier. I did ruin a pair of cheeky wipes ones in the drier so I just stick to flowette now! Mine have lasted well- just in the process of replacing some that are nearly 5 years old (because they look a bit worse for wear rather than not being absorbent)

Spinshone · 22/10/2024 14:43

Heated airer here too.

Pep12per · 22/10/2024 16:53

My daughter's Marks and Spencer ones say they can go in tumble dryer if you have one. I don't but at her dad's, he tumble dries everything unless I tell him not to and they have survived!

reluctantbrit · 22/10/2024 17:03

On the airer, normal, not heated.

Takes 1-2 days depending if the heating is on or not.

Scutterbug · 22/10/2024 17:11

Tumble dryer for me. Not had any issues and have had some for several years.
