Can anyone interpret this HMRC and UC info.

My husband is a driving instructor and I am a carer for our child so have no income.

We currently claim UC. When we made the claim and his work coach told us that we could claim for the lease of the vehicle and a simplified mileage. This seems to be backed up by their statement on their website. This obviously worked out well for us as insurance and tax and servicing is covered by the lease (although he does have a higher cost of tyres and car cleaning etc).

However, when reporting on his tax return, he has to use actual costs. This has created a difference of about £5000 less for UC over the course of the year (some has been down to the fact that he has no receipts when paying at pump but this is not the whole issue) and now I am worried sick that I have over claimed UC and we will be asked to repay UC for this amount.

I have included the explanations below and was hoping someone might have experience or be able to interpret what we should have done. We do have an accountant but he does not advise on UC. Thank you.

The first image is the UC advice and second is HMRC self assessment
