Walking canes for men

So I'm back again asking about things for DH. 😂 (Last time I bought him 3 aftershaves, thank you lot!)

This time a wee bit more sensitive, so any advice would be helpful. Years back, DH got thrown off a horse and trampled. Shattered his hip and thigh, lots of physical therapy and surgery. Surprisingly, he's still very active in spite of it (only 40), but as soon as it gets colder the limp starts and the cane comes out.

He's been using some black thing he hates since he was given it by a doctor yonks ago. I think it embarrasses him to think much about it, but it's scuffed and a mess. I'd like to buy him something a bit nicer but also practical as we're rural and it gets muddy, out with the dogs, mucking out the horses.

I'm not even sure what I'm after. He doesn't like curved handles like a traditional walking stick. I've thought about having one made, but I don't know if height and things come into it? He's 6'3 and slim.

Nothing fancy. Just some directions if anyone knows, as this is navigating a bit in the dark, but I think I can do it by measuring his old cane if need be.

Leki is a big brand for hiking poles. If you get one that is telescopic twice then they will easily fit into a bag when not needed. You can add the wide snow accessory to the bottom when walking through muddy woodlands also for better grip.
and as it’s one of the main brands it’s easy to get replacement rubber bottoms or other accessories over the years

From the oldest (and possibly priciest) umbrella shop in London?

These are all brilliant ideas! I think I'm going to get him a walking pole and a nicer one for while he's in work/out and about.

@beetr00 Gosh they're beautiful! He definitely needs one of those, even if it's for a special occasion! Proper artistry. He's very into woodwork and well dressed (waistcoats, etc.) so something gorgeous like this might actually be very helpful in helping his mindset as it suits him. Same with these ones, @Anicecumberlandsausage absolutely lovely. My lunchbreak is going to be spent shopping!

@SeatonCarew This is very helpful! It's actually all very interesting, learning about the different bits and bobs. Now I'm wondering if a book on the history of canes might go down well - he's a historian so that'll please his brain! 😁

@Caspianberg Thank you! Definitely useful if they have accessories for walking outside, and a snow grip - even better as he's Norwegian and there's often a good cover of snow when we go over! He struggles with that.

@buffyfaithspike Yes! The full heated blankets are good, bit you can't really place them on the located pain so this looks perfect. I've ordered one for now, but I'm tempted to get myself one. 😂
