Can anyone recommend any? I've just looked on Amazon and there are so many. I really struggle with the glare from oncoming car headlights when driving at night. Thanks.

How old are you?
The first signs of cataracts are often difficulties with oncoming headlights.
OH was diagnosed at 44. He's fine now not he's had the pens replaced.

I'm 55 @DontMowMyMeadow . I do have the start of cataracts. My optitian recommended trying the glasses.

Second the recommendation to see an optician for a sight test if you are having problems especially if it's more than 2 years since you last went.

I don’t have cataracts but find the glare awful. The headlights on new cars are really bright now and if you happen to drive a car which is quite low down all the suv lights shine straight in your eyes. I also think people who get migraines can be very sensitive to bright lights. The headlights often make my eyes physically hurt.
I’m after some new night glare glasses so here for the recommendations too

My most recent optitians appointment was about a month ago @LikeABat .

Astigmatism can cause glare too - I struggle to drive at night and have for a while… Following for recommendations!

Just asked as it can be an early sign of problems. Did you ask about the night vision/glare? I have got some yellow over glasses but haven't really tried them yet.

In the same situation and I was told not to drive in the dark. I have had yellow glasses for a decade though. I have zeiss lenses in mine.

Surely your optician could have recommended something?

I bought some a couple of years ago with an anti-glare coating. I only use them for night driving and they make a big difference. Mine came from Boots optician, but I imagine all opticians do them.

Guavafish1 · 21/10/2024 21:09

I’m 30 years old!

i can’t stand the glare…. It’s horrific… I can’t even drive at night! It’s not cataracts.

its the bright beams and led nights

EclipseoftheHeart1 · 21/10/2024 21:25

Me too op and excellent eye health the led lights are utterly ridiculous and dangerous.

Yourownpersonaljesus · 21/10/2024 21:43

Thank you everyone for your replies. My optitian wasn't really that helpful - just said to look on Amazon! He meant the glasses with the yellow lenses. Unfortunately I have to drive in the dark in winter. When I drive to work it's dark and when I drive back from work it's dark! It's already dark when I leave home now. I don't drive when it's dark unless I really have to though.

I wear contact lenses btw.

I have the yellow glasses, they don't make a lot of difference to me. It just turns the glare yellow. It doesn't reduce it as such. I have astigmatism though so it might be different for people who don't.
The super bright led headlights are so dangerous. You just can't see anything!

I started taking vitamins to hopefully prevent macular degeneration. When I first started taking them I noticed an improvement in my night vision. Certainly not perfect but there was a distinct improvement. You need to look for AREDS 2 supplements.
