Cluster feeding

Hello. My baby is 9 weeks and since birth really has cluster fed everyday. Whenever I put him down after he falls asleep after feeding he wakes up instantly and the only way to calm him is feed him again. He can feed for 2 hours and and still want to feed an hour later during the night. During the day he just doesnt seem to stop even after feeding for an hour. He does thjs thing that suggests he getting the fatty bit of milk. My breasts can feel full if he does have a gap between feeds and after a feed they feel empty. I feel like all I do is feed and feed and I can't pjt him down. Any advice? His latch seems good and my midwife and health visitors say it looks good. I get told cluster feeding is normal but it's been everyday for months now. He is gaining weight well and isnt classed as underweight. He can spit up a lot after a feed and sometimes looks uncomfortable mid feed. I was given gaviscon which I think does help the spitting up. He spits up more in the mornings and not really at night or during the night

You need to see a proper breastfeeding specialist. It doesn't matter if the latch looks good, or.if it doesn't hurt, or.if he's gaining weight - it sounds like something is off with your baby's attachment.

Cluster feeding generally means those shorter and shorter, closer and closer together feeds that usually happen in an evening as your supply naturally drops a little, and this is normal. What I'm hearing is your baby feeds constantly, all day, and this suggests to me something isn't quite right.

The sooner you can get it checked out at a breastfeeding support drop in the better, as he gets older it will be trickier to encourage a different latch! Look for one run by an IBCLC if you can.
