Characters You Hated at First But Came to Love?

Inspired by this thread, who are some characters you hated, but came to love after revisiting a show, film or book?

I have a few:

Emily Gilmore. Okay, so I wouldn't say I've come to love her, and I still think she's very overbearing and controlling, but she was not nearly as bad as Lorelai made out, and was often right, even if she did go about things in the wrong way.

Walter Skinner in The X-Files. Never hated him, but I thought he was a bit of a stick in the mud and someone who would often throw a spanner in the works for Mulder and Scully. Now, I see that he was always on their side, doing all he could to help them, often with his hands tied behind his back.

Lisa Simpson. Used to think she was a drag, but can you imagine having to put up with her family?

A weird one, but Buffy in Buffy in Buffy. It was my favourite show right from the off, but I thought she was whiny and annoying! Well, of course, she was, she was a teenage girl with quite literally he world on her shoulders! She was brave, and much more mature than I gave her credit for back then. Plus, it was almost always her who came up with the world-saving plans - she wasn't just the muscle!

Maybe a character you liked originally or were indifferent to? I'm rewatching Dexter and, omfg, Debra is so damn annoying and pathetic, not to mention...

The teenage daughter, Mattie, in Humans. I thought she was a self-absorbed, spoiled and tantrummy child who had the audacity to call her mother shit, when said mother's work provided everything, and she even had both parents at home! But on watching it all the way through, I can see a young woman, growing up, making her own way and doing her best.
