In the light of the demonstrations against tourists would you visit again. I don’t think I would, we went once and it was nice enough, but there are other places to visit which are more welcoming and just as warm.

we went to Greece in the summer and everyone was very welcoming. I get that people are feeling disgruntled about the effect of tourism on the price of rents/housing etc and the detrimental effect on the infrastructure of the place, but I don’t think hassling the tourists is the right approach. The people in charge are the ones to demonstrate against.

We were there a couple of weeks and didn't come across any anti-tourism feeling. The staff at our resort were all lovely and we had a fantastic time.
I would definitely go back

Yes I would.

I have recently returned and didn’t see any anti-tourist stuff at all

The anti tourist demonstrations are concentrated in the most popular areas that we never visit anyway, so it wouldn't put us off. Likewise the Balearics.

We never go all inclusive, generally stay in small purpose built holiday accommodation, eat out at least once a day in local restaurants and also use other independent shops and services so we're the kind of tourists that are welcomed rather than protested against.

There have apparently been lots of demonstrations against tourists all over holiday resorts in Europe, but I've not seen any during my visits this year.

We spoke to quite a few restaurant owners about it and they're horrified - most families in tourist areas will have family members working in hospitality and they rely on tourism to stay afloat.

So yes, I'll carry on going on holiday wherever I fancy going.

Never been to the Canaries, but go to Mallorca once or twice per year where there have also been protests. Was there at the end of August.
Didn't see anything unwelcoming at all!

not me but a friend went to mainland Spain this year and didn’t like it, felt harassed and unwelcome. She was staying in an airbnb.

However know a few others who went to the canaries this year without any issues. They stayed in hotels though (not the whole time).

it’s a similar issue to western wales, they don’t have an issue with tourists per se, and acknowledge that most of them bring money and jobs to the area. But by non locals buying up houses and renting them out as airbnbs, foreigners (can) deprive locals of being able to get their own homes. Also the never ending development needs to be reigned in.
