Hellllloo

I am looking for summer holiday recommendations. Thinking of doing something like Eurocamp. Have heard this can be cheaper than booking a villa. Hit me with your recommendations. Will consider more northern Europe as it is getting a bit toasty in Spain/Greece/Italy

Landal in Holland/Germany/Denmark?

Chersfrozenface · 20/10/2024 22:58

Landal are not cheap.

OP, do you have children and if so what ages?

Duinrell in the Netherlands is often recommended on Mumsnet, but again is not cheap - Sat 24 May 2025, so half term, 7 nights, 4 people starts from £1,804.18 with Eurocamp. Koningshof, a smaller, quieter camp not far from Duinrell, starts from £989.59 for the same dates.

We used to do this type of holiday every year when DC where young. We'd never have managed any of them without a car. Always used Tesco vouchers to pay for Eurotunnel.

Can you go for the very last week of the school holidays? Depending on the date your DC go back to school, you might be able to take advantage of the fact that many Europeans head home the last weekend of August and prices drop then.
You say one of your DC is 10. If you're in England, are they in Yr5 or Yr6? The last week of the holidays may not work for you if they are heading to secondary school as there may be transition activiites for them

If you fly to the south of France there’s a lot of options but it’s not really cheap

Luton to beziers 29th July is around £600
campsites around 15 minutes in a taxi for £1200/£1300

Eurocamp website has a page for sites near to train stations if you want to Eurostar

https://www.eurocamp.co.uk/information/travel/travelling-by-train

It is often cheaper to book directly with the site rather than via eurocamp

Duinrell Netherlands, for Oct this year break week we were £900 for premium plus accomodation (you can get it for half that if you book the older style cabins) and £500 for flights. €70 in a taxi from Schiphol airport.
Summer is obviously more expensive.
