Are there 24 hour clothes shops in London?

My DC went to a nightclub with a group of friends, and one was turned away at the door for wearing tracksuit bottoms. He went home, but, out of curiosity, are there clothes shops in London that are open in the small hours?

Some small stores are listed on Google as being open 24 hours, but they don't have websites, so it's hard to verify whether their Google listing is accurate.

24hr supermarkets - Tesco, Asda etc - with a clothing section, but that will be your lot.

But honestly, who tries to go clubbing in trackies?

Needmorelego · 20/10/2024 13:50

The big Primarks are sometimes open to 11pm. That's it really. Even the 24 hour supermarkets tend to shut access to the clothes.

BrotherUrgh · 20/10/2024 13:54

There’s not even that many 24hr supermarkets anymore; most of them changed their hours. I find that a lot of things in London (inc pubs) shut really early in comparison to a lot of other cities.

Well I never knew that!

McCauslandOnSpeeddial · 20/10/2024 13:56

My immediate thought was the big supermarkets but I'm behind the times, since the pandemic and the rise of online shopping almost no superstores open 24 hours any more, and even when they did they wouldn't be open after midnight on a Saturday due to Sunday Trading laws.

CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets · 20/10/2024 13:57

No need for anything retail to be 24/7. 7 days a week maybe but not 24/7

Edited to clarify as I'm sure someone will jump on and take my comment out of context and be all " so you don't want 24hr emergency medial care then" 🙄

Fun question! You can in New York!

In London, there are branches of Oliver Bonas in all the large train stations but closed probably 10pm to 6am.

They’re all closed by 8pm.

No. Oliver Bonas closes at 9pm, I think, or used to. The 24 hour supermarkets close off access to clothes and DVDs etc after a certain time .

Some of the very touristy souvenir shops in the centre might be open really late (not 24hr), not sure what he would find there clothes wise except t-shirts etc

cwtchwitch · 20/10/2024 14:01

Was also going to suggest supermarkets that sell clothing as your best bet, but probably not a lot of demand for clothing in the small hours of the morning so not too surprised they shut off access to them, less staff to keep an eye on potential shop lifting.

BobbyBiscuits · 20/10/2024 14:03

In central London I doubt it. Primark maybe shuts quite late but not clubbing late.
It reminds me of that scene from Inbetweeners when one of them has to swap his new trainers with a homeless man's 'shoes' to try and gain access to a club! 🤣

My DH loves to tell me about a burger van outside a club in Archway 20yrs ago, where you would drop off your trainers, he'd give you a pair of shoes and then you'd swap back when you left the club. No doubt buying a burger at the same time 😆 Maybe someone should restart with clothing on offer as well!

Farmgoose · 20/10/2024 14:12

No need for a 24 hr clothing shop. Go online and offer someone money to deliver trousers via Uber. Someone would do it.
I was once stuck in a city and needed a very specific thing. Went on the local Facebook and asked and I got the thing.

Needmorelego · 20/10/2024 14:22

@OMGitsnotgood 24 hour supermarkets usually run on skeleton staff during actual night hours. So no one to watch the clothing departments.
It's actually rare to find a 24 hour one these days anyway.

Love this! So entrepreneurial.
Also glad to hear clubbing culture (in proper dress!) is alive and kicking. Always have a depressing sense that the kids aren’t going out dancing anymore.

"But honestly, who tries to go clubbing in trackies?"

An 18 year-old first-timer who didn't get his mum to advise him on what to wear. 😁

The other boys were better advised, but not on the ball enough to notice their friend's tracky bottoms before they left.
