A book to help dd with maths because I'm useless!

Dd is 10 and finds maths difficult. I'm useless at it but really want to help her do she doesn't end up like me.
I've looked at a few workbooks but there aren't really any examples of how to do the sums just the sums.
Can anyone recommend a book where there is an explanation so I can understand it before we look at it together?

YouTube is your friend here. A person will explain it.

search for the topic you want

You need to buy the revision and workbook together. Cgp /letts all good.

I use YouTube as well and Twinkl/ mathsaids/ Corbett maths

Can you learn with her? I was terrible at maths but relearnt the primary school stuff when mine were doing the 11+. It's not as bad as you think.

@ThisHangryPinkBalonz maybe I was just looking at the workbook!
I'm planning to learn with her, it's just a little bit daunting but you tube videos are a great idea.

Yeah I fell into that trap. Bbc bite size is also good for tutorials.

Just learn one subject at a time and learn it well. We spent ages on fractions/decimals and percentages. I used Math aids to generate worksheets when we got better at the subject.

The online BBC bitesize KS2 would be a good place to start

YouTube videos are brilliant for maths, at whatever level. Ds aced his maths GCSE but is finding maths A Level pretty tough. He started watching YouTube videos of the bits he was finding hard and his test scores have bounced right up! Probably just google which maths YouTubers are best for your dd's level - I'm sure there are some better than others!

Sorry I cannot offer any other suggestions, hope you and your DD can learn together and succeed.

I have the carol vorderman 'How to be good at maths' book. I like the very simple visual explanations for all the most basic concepts and increasing in difficulty. I have big gaps in my basic grasp of numeracy and found this helpful to be more quickly confident before reiterating concepts with 9 yr old daughter.

@Awumminnscotland the Carol Vorderman looks ideal just ordered it thanks.
Thanks for the website recommendations I'll have a good look through them.
So glad I posted now, I was worried people would think I was a just a bit dim!

Good luck OP, if you need any help / tips do post. I posted on higher education when I got stuck with my daughter's work and everyone was very helpful.
