Which do you use?

Arsed,

Couldnt be asked is not a phrase I've ever heard

SilenceInside · 19/10/2024 20:58

Couldn't be arsed. "Asked" is just wrong not an alternative, surely? Like it's been misheard and repeated incorrectly.

eurochick · 19/10/2024 20:58

Arsed.

Couldn't be asked is not a thing.

Hillrunning · 19/10/2024 20:58

Never heard of couldn't be asked.

Catsmere · 19/10/2024 20:59

"Couldn't be asked" makes no sense. It's arsed, as in couldn't be bothered.

TronaldDumps · 19/10/2024 20:59

Arsed because it is correct.

MaidOfSteel · 19/10/2024 20:59

Never heard 'couldn't be asked' before.

Hillrunning · 19/10/2024 21:00

Is asked perhaps used in video captions on platforms that don't like swearing?

Potentiallyplausible · 19/10/2024 21:00

Arsed. Asked doesn’t make any sense at all, and I’ve never heard anyone say that.

Littletreefrog · 19/10/2024 21:00

Arsed. Asked makes no sense at all.

Overthebow · 19/10/2024 21:00

Never heard of couldn’t be asked either. It’s arsed.

purplebeansprouts · 19/10/2024 21:03

I thought it was arsed but I've seen "asked" used a few times on here so thought maybe it was regional

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 19/10/2024 21:04

If you've seen it on here I would assume it's an autocorrect error and not a deliberate choice. Perhaps.

Maybe just auto correct.

wickerlady · 19/10/2024 21:07

I've seen both and asked is definitely incorrect!

purplebeansprouts · 19/10/2024 21:10

Well I feel silly. 49 votes in and it's 100% Arsed

Haribo16 · 19/10/2024 21:13

Can't be asked is definitely used. I used to live in Essex my dad lives in south east London and you would hear certain people use can't be asked more than arsed.

Where I’m from, it’s misspelt this way so often that people will argue that “arsed” is wrong.

DappledThings · 19/10/2024 21:16

Anyone who thinks the correct word in the context is asked has another think coming. And I'll tell you that off my own bat

Jennyathemall · 19/10/2024 21:17

I think it’s just auto correct changing arsed to asked!

Clearinguptheclutter · 19/10/2024 21:17

Hillrunning · 19/10/2024 20:58

Never heard of couldn't be asked.

only on mnet. Other threads have discussed this!!

HazelLion · 19/10/2024 21:18

I'll be honest, I'm not from the UK and thought my DH was saying "can't be asked" for the first year we were together. It kind of makes sense I guess?

you trouble maker!!

😂😂😂

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 19/10/2024 21:19

People mishear it as asked and then say that.

Couldn't be asked is nonsense - I could be asked to fly to the moon powered by vimto. I can't do it, but it doesn't stop someone asking!

How can you tell the difference between asked and arsed in an Essex/SE London accent? Just arsking!
