Left baby to cry, feel terrible

Got visitors later today and was trying to get overtired and shrieking 11 week old down for a nap - half naked as I'd just got out the shower. Baby not having it, going crackers in there - knew he would likely sleep in the sling but I have jobs to do and there's a limited amount of bending I can do with him in there as I have some mobility issues, so I really wanted just one tiny pram nap out of him. Eventually gave up but needed to get dressed before putting on the sling so left him strapped in the pram (hysterical at this point) while I threw on some clothes and combed my (soaking wet) hair. When I got downstairs again, maybe three minutes later, he was asleep.

I feel terrible that I left him to cry 😭😭😭

He was safe and you needed a shower, honestly it's ok for babies to cry sometimes - please don't feel guilty!

sometimes baby's cry because they are tired a few mins is fine if mine are still crying after 10 mins i try stroke their back to sleep

Its hard we sometimes have to do stuff they dont like but its in their best interest .I felt awful after my first daughters vaccines but it was the right thing to do ,sometimes thats the way

Its good we feel bad it means we care are children are so lucky to have people that care and love them

If you feel that guilty over 3 minutes of crying - then you’re obviously a very loving Mummy. Don’t be hard on yourself. Overtired and drifted off to sleep - nothing to worry about.

I should have just put him in the sling really. But I wanted for once to be able to brush my hair and put make up on without having to reach round a baby!!!

I'm not a great fan of CIO or CC but I did always try and give mine a couple of minutes to see if they would settle themselves. If they were still crying I would go in and stroke their backs and if they still didn't settle then I would pick them up and cuddle to sleep.

He woke pretty quickly in the end and now is having a good long snooze in the stretchy wrap.

The fact you feel bad shows what type of parent you are. So don't feel bad mama, you need to be able to get things done as well and your baby crying for 3 minutes won't be detrimental to their health or development. You're only human!!
