What kind of sausages to use for toad in the hole?

Living close to two supermarkets and a few butchers gives me plenty of choice. I don't know whether to use fairly ordinary pork sausages, Cumberland or a butchers' shop special variety. I've seen one recipe that uses Cumberland but Delia Smith says to use chipolatas - she isn't any more specific than that.

Thankyou.

I use black farmer sausages. The best in my opinion. Absolutely delicious

Literally any sausages!

Honestly I’d use whichever ones you like best. But be aware if recipe says chipolatas, they’d take less time than the fat ones. So you may need to adjust.

Fattest sausages at the butchers!

Your favourite ones.

Richmond meat free ones make a bloody decent toad in the hole ime...

Don't use cheap fatty sausages though... the whole thing will taste of sausage grease. I'd use pork and onion butcher's sausages.

My DH grew up having toad in the hole with the 'toad' being...

Pork chops!

Posh or what??

Thanks all. I guess it's ultimately a matter of taste - no right no wrong. I admit I cringed when reading Delia Smith's recipe. She mentions gravy but then calls it 'jus'. I didn't think naff terms like that were her style.

Anyhoo, first I need to master the art of making Yorkshire pudding. And onion jus - sorry, gravy.
