Looks absolutely fine. Eat or bin?

Go by the smell, if it smells ok in the middle then I would eat it.

DustyLee123 · 17/10/2024 07:28

Bin 🗑️

Packingboxesneeded · 17/10/2024 07:30

I wouldn’t chance it. It could end up costing you more in extra supplies of toilet paper than the pack of mince.

God no

ClemmyTine · 17/10/2024 07:34

If it had been bought from a butchers and not a supermarket it wouldn't have a use/sell by date on it. You would have to use your eyes and nose to tell if it was ok.
Smell it. Feel it, is it slimy? Look to see if it's discoloured.

WiserOlderElf · 17/10/2024 07:37

Out of date pork mince is the only thing I’ve ever had food poisoning from so on that basis I’d bin, although technically if it smells ok it should be fine

DiscoBeat · 17/10/2024 07:39

Very dodgy! Pigs eat all sorts so you have to be careful. Also I'm sure this is where the religious aspect comes in - most cultures that don't eat pork are from hot countries where it can go off very quickly.

Offredismysister · 17/10/2024 07:40

Do not eat the rotten swine mince 😱

BuzzieLittleBee · 17/10/2024 07:53

@DiscoBeat The speed at which meat goes off is not a determining factor in whether people of different religions eat them! In Judaism pork is not allowed because pigs aren't ruminants, and in Islam because they're considered unclean.

TheTwirlyPoos · 17/10/2024 08:00

No slime or discolouration at all. hm. Maybe I won't chance it.

No. I'd risk it after a day or two if it smelled and looked OK, but 4 days is too long. You can't see/ smell all bacteria that may be there.

Killerqueenie · 17/10/2024 08:10

I would eat out of date beef mince if it looked and smelled OK, but I don't think I'd chance it with pork.

Candleabra · 17/10/2024 08:10

4 days? No I wouldn’t risk it.

LadyLucksalot · 17/10/2024 08:12

Pork - not a chance I'd risk it. Absolutely bin.

Oneearringlost · 17/10/2024 08:13

If it looks and smells fine, I'd use it ( has it been sealed and refrigerated properly?)
I'm assuming you'll be cooking it thoroughly and for quite a long time?
I wouldn't, for instance , use it for meatballs that you may be shallow-frying?

Ednoreilojal · 17/10/2024 08:15

I recently cooked and ate pork steaks that were 5 days out of date. They smelled, looked and tasted fine and nobody was ill. They were in a sealed packet in the coldest part of the fridge. I did get worried after eating them that I'd have made everyone ill for the sake of throwing away something worth a few quid but I hate food waste.

CagneyNYPD1 · 17/10/2024 08:17

I hate food waste. But I have food poisoning more. Bin it.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 17/10/2024 08:44

Nope

Radiatorvalves · 17/10/2024 08:49

I’d smell it. If all normal I’d cook and eat. But if a hint of a whiff I’d bin.

teatoast8 · 17/10/2024 08:51

Smell it and if it looks okay. Would only do it if its from the butchers tho

Eenameenadeeka · 17/10/2024 08:55

Mince is apparently quite high risk for bacteria /food poisoning. I'd most definitely bin it.

purpleme12 · 17/10/2024 08:56

No I wouldn't at 4 days past

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 17/10/2024 09:05

Why? Supermarket meat will have more preservative.

LunaNorth · 17/10/2024 09:08

Christ Almighty, you’ll lose your eyeballs through the back door if you eat that. Bin!

Cattery · 17/10/2024 09:10

Not pork, no
