Pray to st Anthony for me - lost car keys

Somewhere between the car (directly outside the house) and here the keys have gone missing. This morning I thought my toddler had pulled them out of my hand and they'd slipped behind the shoe rack so I borrowed DH's but now I've turned the entire house upside down, including going through every single coat and trouser pocket, every shoe, every toy box, the freezer.
The only place I haven't looked is the recycling as we already put out in a neighbour's bin (with permission) due to ours being full this week after hosting a brithsy party. If it's in there then it's gone for good I guess.
I've retraced steps, walked through my day, everything.
I don't believe but I've also prayed to st Antony.
DH is pissed with my about the cost of a replacement - which is fair - plus the amount of hassle it will be with one set as we often leave it somewhere are the other picks it up etc due to our complicated work schedules with the kids and school runs/clubs.
Gah!!!
Perimenopause brain and the mental load is destroying me and things like this keep happening. DH is being a little unsympathetic tbh and I feel like a shadow of myself. I never used to do this sort of thing

They will turn up.

DoNotAdjustYourSex · 16/10/2024 09:01

It won’t help you now, but get some Tiles and your life will change forever. I have them on all my keys, wallet, work bag, can find everything I used to spend hours looking for.

Arewethebadguys · 16/10/2024 09:15

Found mine in the lock for the shed - had needed something and forgotten to lift them. Could they be somewhere like that? Good luck OP!

Hopefully you havent dropped them outside by the car and someone hasn't found them and come back to steal your car 🤔

That was my first thought.

HappydaysArehere · 16/10/2024 09:58

I remember losing the house keys. Really anxious as imagined they had been left in the door and someone had taken them.
After searching everywhere we had the lock changed. About a year later I decided to sort out my stack of carrier bags. Couldn’t believe it as I found them in one of them as must have slipped out of my hand and into the bag. My dh lost the car keys which turned up under the bonnet as he had checked something and then closed it down. I had been driving back and forth to work. A colleague suggested “under the bonnet” but I didn’t take much notice until I got home and with this in my mind I lifted the bonnet. There they were sitting on the side. Have you got a what’s app for your street in case someone has found them? I found some car keys and took a photo and a neighbour said they belonged to her son. Good luck with St Anthony. I will ask him as well.

I've checked everywhere nearby. If I dropped them then they have been stolen. But the car is still there. It's old and not worth more than £1k so don't think anyone would go to the effort of taking it tbh

Yes I'm definitely going to do this when it gets sorted

Has the lining of your coat split? I've had that happen before and my keys were down by the hem

No, I thought of that but coat is in good condition and the fob is actually pretty big.

We once found car keys in the letter box. Toddler had lifted the flap inside the door and left them on the ledge then the flap hid them

Amusingly I've already checked that!

I could have written this post, except 5 years ago. The car was only 3 months old and I lost one of the keys literally between the driveway and the house whilst bringing the kids in one day. Husband was understandably a bit mad. When we moved, we found it. Behind the fridge. Super tall fridge, couldn't have been put on top of it. To this day I have no idea how it got there, I wasn't even bringing in shopping. Bizarre.

Do you have shutters on your windows? My toddler posted my keys through the shutters.

St Anthony is the GOAT in theses situations. Never lets me down.

I've even looked behind the fridge, and inside it and inside the freezer.
Very odd.
DH had spoken to the AA now and we can get one in a day (for a fee). Am cross with myself but the juggle is immense at the moment and things like this happen because I'm struggling.

I'll tell you where I found DH's after a week looking (he uses his car key entirely separately to all his other keys, so it's just a little black box). He had put it down on the car itself, in the ditch under the front wipers. It sat there happily, in car parks, in all weathers, for days. Amazed the car didn't get stolen. You genuinely couldn't see it and it was cradled so it didn't move. I wiped the windscreen and spotted it.....have a look here

I once mislaid my glasses, and as I was looking for them I thought 'I bet they're in the wine rack', and reached in and pulled them out! No toddlers to blame, and I'm teetotal. 🤔Sometimes I think Borrowers just do these things to mess with us!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 16/10/2024 13:39

Do you know someone with a metal dectector (I'm being serious) even a childs one may locate them if you search along the route from the car to the house.

Failing that it'll have to be a pray to Saint Timpsons.🙏

Awww, you sound really low. I am sorry. Is it the terrible twos getting you down? Have you pulled out the car seat and checked it's not hiding between the isofix base and the back seat btw? I've mislaid mine there before now!
