QB Tests

DD9 suspected ADHD struggles hugely with impulsivity and hyperactivity. Traits noted in both school and home.

looking at private diagnosis and meds until we can go in the NHS meds list. (I’ve made sure the company follows NICE guidelines, they also offer a qb test)

My daughter is struggling massively with anxiety in unfamiliar places right now, especially in closed rooms. (Panics when door shut)

has anyone been in the room with their child when doing this test? I know they advise not to in case of distraction but I don’t see her doing it otherwise. I know it’s not essential for an assessment but I do feel it’s beneficial.

thanks in advance!

Yes I was but my son is 13 so I think was doing the adult version. He was sat facing a wall at the computer and then the psychologist and I were both sat behind him, the psychologist at an angle so he could see what he was doing and I was directly behind, far enough away to be out of the camera.

Does the company offer an initial chat? I have just been through this with my son and although he has had various assessments before I wasn't sure he would co-operate (grumpy teenager). However in the initial meeting he got on very well with the psychologist and that made us stick with the private assessment rather than trying the NHS RTC route.

Yes, I sat in with DD7. Sat in the same configuration as the previous poster.

This is reassuring thank you! I’ve emailed the company for some more information. It’s the ADHD foundation charity in Liverpool. They offer a thorough pre screen inc the QB. If a formal diagnosis is wanted they then refer you to one of their psychiatrists. For an extra fee but within private prices!

Her impulsivity is through the roof at the minute. She isn’t sleeping until 1-2am. Has severe EBSA around school and has ran away from school after me. Has had to be “positively handled” restrained all this has caused massive anxiety in situations.
