I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The kittens are snuggled back up, after their breakfast, on the arm of my comfy chair 😊 No-one else is up yet, but I know alarms are set for 9am.

I'm nipping dd2 into town to collect her new glasses, at midday. And to pick up a few other bits - herbs from Sainsbury's (I like their jars), a nip in Home Bargains, and a few things from Bodycare.

Dd1 has college work to finish so she'll get on with that, and dd2 wants to do some revision when we get home ready for a practise exam question one of her teachers has planned for Tuesday

I want to upload a few more things to Vinted when we get in, and make carrott and fennel soup. I wanted to make the soup last week but didn't get round to it 🙄

We're having gammon for tea, with veg, roasties (maybe home made chips instead) and gravy 😋

After that it'll be my Self Care Sunday scrubby shower, followed by either crochet or one of my books. I really want to crack on with both but am knackered of an evening & don't get far before it's bed time 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

@RabbitsRock I thought it was the best episode so far. It will be perfect Sunday viewing.

Fridgetapas · 13/10/2024 10:20

Morning! Me and the baby were up first. He slept all night after a week of almost hourly wakings so that was a lovely treat! I did a few jobs downstairs before I heard toddler DS at the top of the stairs!

Made breakfast for all 3 of us and DS watched some number blocks. DH got up and watched them whilst I got dressed and took DS with him to do the food shop. Just waiting for them to get back now and we are heading out to the shops to do a bit of Christmas shopping. Not sure what’s for dinner tonight - I think we are just going to do a quick pasta bolonaise. We don’t often have time to do roasts.

Then baths, get ready for another week of pre school and DH work and strictly results tonight :)

lucysmam · 13/10/2024 10:23

@RabbitsRock tell me more about your smothered pork steaks please😋

Hi all!

I'm sick with tonsillitis but getting better. Just washed my hair and about to head out for a coffee and maybe an almond croissant.

Today I need to buy some hiking boots for a mountain climb I'm doing in a couple of weeks.

SpiderMother · 13/10/2024 10:40

This is a lovely thread, it is really making me appreciate simple pleasures.

I had a lie in. DS and DD have gone to play indoor cricket, DH put slow roasted lamb in oven before he left. I'm journalling with a cup of tea, planning next week. I start a new job so its an exciting week.

Planning to tidy up kitchen a bit and peel the veg - MIL is coming for lunch. Then a strength class before the boys get back. After that, dog walk and then hopefully a lazy afternoon - I've got a book I'd like to finish. After that, get ready for tomorrow and plan my outfit.

Zippedydodah · 13/10/2024 10:41

Good morning everyone, I’ve been up for several hours, slept badly because I spent yesterday mostly in bed feeling grotty 🙄
I have done the ironing and put it away, tidied around and decided on chicken escalopes with homemade potato wedges and veg for dinner. DH has taken the dog out, I will walk her later, I have nothing else planned for today.
The sun is trying to come out, it’s really chilly out so I need to find my gloves for dog walking.
I do have plenty of things to occupy me but little inclination to do them!

PurpleTinsel555 · 13/10/2024 10:50

Good morning all! I’m still in bed with the flat white DP brought me from the cafe downstairs. 🙈 Woke up covered in cats about an hour ago.

It’s our first weekend with no plans in aaaaages, so we’re taking it easy. I’ll head to yoga in about twenty minutes, then DP will clean the fridge and I’ll do the bedroom. Then lots of studying for me (I’m way behind!), the weekly online shop and a glass of wine and a scary movie to end the night. Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

Taytocrisps · 13/10/2024 10:58

Morning @lucysmam I did a bit of housework this morning. I've stopped for a cuppa and a bagel and then I'll stick on some laundry and head to my Dad's house. We're going out for lunch.

On the way to Dad's house, I'll pop into a furniture shop and check out their bookcases. Hoping to order one in the next few days.

DD is working and then she's heading to her boyfriend's house later. I don't see her much these days Smile .

Andtheworldwentwhite · 13/10/2024 10:59

Been to the gym. Did 1hr and 30 mins there. I’m home now. Going to do some batch cooking for the week and try and finish my book. My adult son has man flu so will look after him I imagine 😂

JoanChitty · 13/10/2024 11:03

Good morning all,
it’s a big family roast dinner here today as our youngest daughter has returned home after living in Norway for the last 7 years. Lovely to have her back although she has also brought her 2 cats. So far our 2 cats have not been impressed, lots of hissing and growling! Hopefully they can learn to live with each other!

EvenLess · 13/10/2024 11:10

Morning all. Have mostly spent the morning on the sofa as I've been poorly all week, but starting to feel a little better today. Currently watching Supertato with DD4 (not one of CBeebies better offerings).

They are heading to the great grandparents house later, but I'm avoiding as I don't want to give them any germs. Planning on slow paced housework (in between more sitting!), Christmas planning and maybe a slow walk to the shops to pick up ingredients to make cheddar broccoli soup tomorrow while DD is at school. Not exciting but grateful to be feeling somewhat back in the land of the living today.

Justonedayatatime11 · 13/10/2024 11:11

Morning everyone!

Still in bed as only woke up an hour ago after 12 hours sleep. That never happens!

Long day at HOYS yesterday after being up until 3am waiting for 111 to call me back absolutely did me in. And of course they called back 20 mins after I gave up and fell asleep 🤦🏻‍♀️.

We're off out for a late lunch today, so no cooking or washing up. Home to sort DDs uniform for tomorrow, give the many cats some TLC and then back to bed for an early night and some more episodes of New Amsterdam

Giggorata · 13/10/2024 11:18

Good morning, lucysmam and all,
I had a lie in as I was up very late, for no particular reason, just reading and listening to music.

Today I am doing a few chores and getting ready for a funeral tomorrow. Everyone is wearing the deceased's favourite colour and I am doing a reading, so I'm sorting out my outfit and practising a bit.

This afternoon, I have to familiarise myself with DH's new (to him) van and all the electronic complications, like alarms, immobilisers and what not, otherwise I will never be able to drive it without getting stuck somewhere with a sullen and immovable vehicle. Not my idea of fun.

Spag Bol for dinner and back to my book.

zingally · 13/10/2024 11:21

Good morning all.

I've just finished a bit of decluttering of the spare bedroom, as there's a new bed being delivered on Tuesday morning. I've just had a coffee and a couple of biscuits while browsing on here, and next job will be to get the clothes I washed yesterday off the airer and put away. :)
I also need to print off a few bits for the girl I tutor on a Thursday evening. Then it's chill time for the rest of the day.
I've got some soup for lunch in an hour or so, and it'll be chicken and chips for tea.

I had considered driving into town for a mooch, but I've decided to save it for now. Might do it on Tuesday after the bed has been delivered, as I'll have free time.

Dogwithtoebeans · 13/10/2024 11:22

Sneaking naps on the sofa where I can today while my scrumptious 10 day old PFB snoozes too. Waiting for DH to make brunch and then will think about popping to MIL’s to meet the wider family later. Feeling very lucky indeed

TribeofFfive · 13/10/2024 11:25

Off to watch DS2s rugby match this morning. We will be home for 1ish and DS1 & DS2 have requested a walk in the woods. DD will be finishing her homework whilst we’re at rugby and I’ve already got a joint of beef in the slow cooker so it’ll be a lovely roast around 4pm then a slow wind down to bedtime with a film.

lucysmam if you google “ smothered pork chops slow cooker recipes”, it’s pretty much the one that pops up first - Nicky’s Kitchen Sanctuary. Very easy to make & we loved it 🥰

AdoraBell · 13/10/2024 11:52

Took DD2 to work, waiting for DD1 to arrive for lunch in local pub.

Andnowshesatoddler · 13/10/2024 12:44

Poorly again today so we're at my mum's under a blanket snuggling up and toddler is entertaining us dancing to super simple songs. My husband keeps tickling her and playing throwing her in the air etc so she's giggling.
Nap time soon.
Happy Sunday all.

walkingmycatnameddog · 13/10/2024 12:53

I’m madly going through the house, visitors coming tomorrow and not seen them for four years. Moving furniture though I know I’m not supposed to, and then clearing surfaces. Putting summer stuff like the fans back in the garage. Stripping the beds, good vacuum throughout and then reward myself with an extra special meal tonight to watch Strictly results. Sunday a day of rest? Really?

ProvincialLady2024 · 13/10/2024 12:54

@Decafflatteplease

Book is The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

Simon Reeve is Incredible Journeys on BBC2 at 8 ish (I think).

GameOfJones · 13/10/2024 13:06

I like the Sainsbury's herb jars too @lucysmam! Although they were out of oregano when I went yesterday.

Having a reasonably quiet day today. DD2 and I popped to Lidl when it opened (also sold out of oregano!!) but the trip was mainly to go to their bakery. We came home and I've been doing laundry while DDs watch one of the Harry Potter films.

We've just had lunch (cheese and onion sandwiches) and DDs are now doing their homework. The grass really needs cutting but isn't quite dry at the minute, but I may try to do it later before more rain comes.

We're off swimming later on this afternoon as my local pool offer cheap tickets after 3pm on a Sunday so we'll have a splash around. Then home for an easy dinner. DDs had asked to go to KFC but we've compromised and are doing MFC (Mum's Fried Chicken) at home instead 🤣. I have corn on the cob and some BBQ sauce to go with the chicken and chips.

I normally do a full on spa bath on a Sunday evening with music playing, hair mask, bubble bath etc but I may skip that this week if I'm showering and hair washing after swimming.

Planning an early night tonight as we were up late last night, ready for school tomorrow. I'm reading a new book (When the Moon Hatched) so will read another chapter of that in bed.

tigerbear · 13/10/2024 13:20

I’m still in bed, been scrolling MN for hours!
Have a bit of a hangover, and am very achey from a workout lifting heavy weights yesterday, plus tired from several weeks of work being full on.

So am having a very rare ‘bed day’.
DH brought me homemade hash browns with fried eggs and crispy bacon earlier, with a pot of coffee.
He’s walked the dog and is now decorating our spare room, whilst I’m being lazy.
This is my perfect day!
