Lyme disease or ringworm?

Anyone around to give an opinion? Have spoken to 111 who don't have the technology to be sent photos 🤦🏻‍♀️. Have a long awaited day out tomorrow which involves a very early start but if I need to go to OOH then I'll do that instead. Both came up yesterday morning, 1 on each leg, got steadily bigger. Very very itchy and hot! No contact with ticks that I'm aware of....

Draw a ring around the red bit in biro and get that seen to.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 11/10/2024 23:18

Doesn't look like ringworm but the left one does look like a target lesion which can be due to Lyme's disease. Def get checked out.

That’s definitely not ringworm (I’ve had the misfortune of it!).

Possibly Lymes, this is how my brother’s started.

Tonight's pics... much redder and bigger. Genuinely not aware of any time I could have been bitten by a tick. And what are the chances of 2 ticks, on 2 separate legs?!

Not ringworm.

They just look like insect bites to me. I'd take an antihistamine and see if that reduces it.

BlackButter · 12/10/2024 09:13

It’s not ringworm. You can do a private GP appointment online and get the antibiotics to cover it. I wouldn’t risk it being Lyme and not treating it now. Some places still wait until the flulike symptoms but other countries treat now at the Bite coming up

Mine looked exactly like that after a horse fly bite. It just kept getting bigger tbh and I needed antibiotics in the end as the red flooded my whole upper thigh. Asked a pharmacist and they sent me to the walk in centre.

Justonedayatatime11 · 12/10/2024 09:18

I took an antihistamine which seems to have taken the itch and heat out a bit. This morning they look a bit purple/blue Confused

Insect bite

I had Lyme and mine wasn't like that

TarantinoIsAMisogynist · 12/10/2024 09:20

The chances of 2 tick bites are quite high. If you have been in an area which is bad for ticks, you can pick up several easily, and 2 isn't unusual at all.

AffIt · 12/10/2024 09:23

I am very sensitive to certain insect bites and will occasionally get reactions like this: is the middle hot, hard and slightly raised?

I think the fact that you've seen a slight improvement having taken an antihistamine would suggest that that's the case, although if you can, it might be worth swinging by a pharmacist to ask their opinion.

If you haven't been in 'tick country' (areas with long grass or lots of bushes or trees frequented by sheep or deer), then the odds of it being Lymes are very low.

Saw GP this morning. 3 weeks of antibiotics for suspected Lyme 🤦🏻‍♀️
