Potters resorts

Hi
has anybody been to potters resorts
we are thinking of going to potters at five lakes. We are a mixed aged group 50 -60 but feel 35. I’ve heard mixed things about actual demographic and experience
some people seem to love it and keep going back but that’s from official fb page. Anyone been?

I will be reading the responses to this post with interest!

We have been thinking of going to 5 lakes ourselves, but (for us anyway) it would be an expensive mistake to make if it is horrible and it's a long way to go.

I know this thread is a week or so old but we are going to Five Lakes tomorrow for the weekend. I can let you know when we get back if you are still thinking about it.

I'm back. The age range there was around 40's to 70's. We are early 60's so fitted in age wise but I know a couple the same age as us who went earlier in the year and said that they were the youngest there so I think it can be the luck of the draw.

Everything was included, food - so much food. They offer breakfast, a 3 course lunch, a 3 course dinner and midnight snack. I found that after a full english for breakfast I couldn't eat much at lunch so I just had the soup and a roll but if you were hungry then there was plenty of choice. Drinks were all inclusive as well, tea, coffee, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks. The spirits were all named brands not the cheap stuff. I drink gin and could have either Gordons or Bombay Sapphire. To get a drink you go to one of the ordering stations where they take your order with your table number and then a member of the staff brings your drink to you. You don't wait long at all. All the staff we encountered were very polite and friendly

There were activities all day, quizzes, games, sports etc. One or two of the outdoor events were cancelled due to the weather though.

We really enjoyed the shows in the theatre, very professional.

We stayed in a room in the Village accommodation. It was ok, but felt like it could do with a bit of a spruce up. I know Five Lakes hasn't been a Potters resort for long so hopefully they will get round to upgrading these rooms. We would go back,

Haven't been personally but my MIL absolutely loves the Potters resorts and goes 2-3 times a year. She's been going to them for a long time with no complaints. I think they've been run by the same family/firm for many years. Not really my bag but certainly sounds jolly!

@kab89 thank you. A further question - did you have to walk long distances to get to everything? I can't walk far at the moment so it would be useful to know which accommodation is the closest to everything.

Boomer55 · 22/10/2024 16:55

My daughter goes (40’s). It not high end, but she said it’s a laugh. 🙂

We were in the furthest block of the village accommodation so we had to walk to the complex which took us about 4 minutes or so. If I were you I would book into the hotel which is in the main complex and there are lifts so you don't have to use the stairs. In the complex it's only a 2 or 3 minute walk to the theatre, dining rooms etc. The hotel rooms are on the 1st and 2nd floors. If you are looking to book the village rooms I would request blocks 3 or 4 as these are next to the main complex.

I've been to the one in Norfolk with my Ds and a friend and her DS. We had a blast! Although it was half term so full of families so probably can't comment on the age demographic the rest of the time.

I'd definitely go back though.

@kab89 thank you again.

Just back from a 4 night break just before Christmas and a one-night special in New Year for the Opera Buys - lots to do if that is what you want (we mainly people watch) if you can get a good deal its well worth it. We are in the yourger age range but prefer 5 Lakes to the Hopton site as its adult only. Much better than the Warners places - they rang last orders at 10-45 pm when we went once and worked out more expensive when you factor in drinks and lunch etc - never will go back.

It sounds like something from Phoenix Nights
