Breast pumping- Manual or Electric?!

Hey all!

I have a questions and would be appreciative to have some insights from you all...

I'm a first time mum and I'm planning on breastfeeding, but alongside this I want to express pump so my partner can also feed. My question is what pump do people recommend?

There are big differences in price for example the Elvie electric or the Medela manual- I want to ensure I can get enough for when I harvest colostrum and then also when she is here and I can make my bottles etc.

Any advice or help would be appreciated :)

Both work well but electric is more efficient and will usually get more milk for much less effort.

look at the Fraupow pump, much cheaper than elvie etc. I used it and it was fab

Electric is much easier and efficient. And you can do it hands free. I had a Medela one. But for lots of women pumping doesn’t get much out, whereas the baby gets plenty on the breast directly. So don’t assume it means your baby isn’t getting enough if you don’t get much from pumping.

Thank you! Would you recommend to buy once baby is here then or before?

Thank you for this :)! I do also want to use it to harvest colostrum so hoping this will help when using my syringes.
